Has any body out there heard of any after-market manufacturers who are, or may be, bringing out any after-market accessories for Dragon's Karl Mortar Kit yet?
Thanks and take care, sgirty

Only one company I know of is Lion's Roar and they just had it as listing at the Shizouka hobby show last weekend. Thing i'd replace on mine would be the tracks and even then they'd have to be rather impressivebecause the lack of detail in the DML track is rather insignificant ue to the fact that the majority of the tracks are under the tank of hidden from veiw by the massive catwalks on either side of the Karl. but that's just my opinion. stug

HI.
Sorry, I don't have info on aftermarket, but had a question about the actual kit.
What were your opinions of the kit itself. I'm very interested in purchasing it, but have heard differing reports on the quality of the kit. Is it worth the money?
Thanks,
Jason

There are pictures in this site,by modellers who have built the Karl.
I am in the process of painting mine now.DML did rush it a bit, there are some details that could have been formed etter. There is a rough texture that should have been molded on the recuperator housing,as seen in wartime pictures.
If,however you have an extensive collection of Armor,it is worth the price to have one to show off.And buy a second one, when PE becomes available.
I think.

I haven't got the kit yet, per say, but a local hobby store had one on display so anybody who wanted to could take a good look at the spures. Personally, I thought it was just a little sparse in the number of parts for a kit this size. But all the plastic on it looked real good and all the detail that is on the kit itself is really sharp. So I went ahead and ordered one.
I think Dragon could have spent a little more time with it and maybe added a thing or two, detail parts wise, but all in all it's a pretty good kit for it's price.
The man at the hobby store said that he thought it was a good kit for the money too. (He's going to get me one for $50.) He also say that there was other kits out of this model, but they were a lot more expsensive. So I guess you kind of get what you pay for.
Personally, when I get mine, I'm going to set it back in the closet and wait and see if anything comes out here in the next few months or so in the add-on department for this kit. I'm kind of thinking there will be, hopefully.
There is a kit on the track-link.net site (hope I can mention this here), that a modeler has buit and he has his own web site to go to that shows some detailing things he did to his. Only problem is that the site is in German, but the pictures pretty much speak for themselves here. You might want to check this out.
Don't think you will be wasting your money, all in all. You'll probably need some references as well in order to add a few things that are left off, but I believe it could be built OOTB and still be a pretty nice model. Again, you get what you pay for. $50 is a whole lot less than $150+.
Take care and good luck. sgirty
