sd.kfz. 171 Panther F Prototype
Here are some of my pics of my latest project. It is the Tamiya kit fitted with aber grilles and voyager skirt hangers. I used Dragons Ausf. D tracks and the turret is also from Dragon. This project was a combination of kits that were missing major parts due to other projects. In the end, three half kits equal one sd.kfz. 171 Panther F Prototype. Yes, I know, my math doesn’t add up!
I hope to paint it soon!

Looks good. Nice to get something this good from several "half" kits.
Looking forward to see it with some paint on it.

Hello everyone, I have made progress!
I painted the Panther with a base coat of Tamiya dark yellow mixed with a bit of white and yellow. After this, I thought I would give color modulation a try so I began masking and mixing different shades of dark yellow mixed with desert yellow, deck tan and yellow green. In all, I used 5 different mixes.
Color modulation is easy but time consuming; however, I am pleased with the results.
What’s next? Filtering! Also, I will tackle the running gear and tracks.
Please feel free to comment

Nice model, not meant in disrespect or as a bad comment, but why is there only surface roughening on vertical faces, and not on horizontal planes ?

Looking really amazing!
But just a offtopic question. I saw you selling your models at ebay. Why are you doing that? I saw one going away for just 60 dollars. I would keep those models, and if not, make a site. When doing that you can ask way more money for it.

you have a good point! The real reason was that was afraid I would mess up the details on the horizontal planes.
Also, in my opinion, any constructive feedback back i get I find helpful, so keep them coming!

Thanks Lars. I sell my stuff on ebay so I can earn money for two things: models and expensive meals with a bottle of wine! In short, its side money that I can spend without worring to much and although I make a decent salary here in New York teaching, I can always use extra cash. My last vacation was paid for entirely from the sale of my built kits and unbuilt too.
Also, I love building and painting tanks, but after the project is complete, I don't really care to hold on to it, most of the time. I do plan on keeping 1 tank of each type or varient for my own collection, but when I build for my own collection, each project could be very expensive.
A website of my own? Not a bad idea! But can I find the time to do it!
Thanks again Lars for looking and commenting
Cheers

Very nice job on a very interesting topic Nicholas. Are you going to put any numbers or other markings on it or leave it alone? Looks good either way. Thanks for sharing. Well done.
