To All,
I got an unexpected visitor today: the mailman with a box from AFV Club. Inside was a M1128 Stryker Mobile Gun System. Nice, nice, nice.

The kit contained 16 sprues, 6 from the M1126 kit, 6 new ones for the turret and upper hull and 2 clear ones. The main gun is a part aluminium/part plastic affair. The strut/shock protectors are plastic, not PE, with the perforations molded into the parts. I did not notice any sink marks/molding issues/blemishes with my sample. The 20 page instructions are clear and included an additional page of drawings of the complete Stryker Family of Vehicles. No slat armor was included, so don't ask... Sounds like a job for Eduard or Voyager.

I posted an in the box review, with pictures of the sprues, on the AMPS website (http://www.amps-armor.org/ampssite/reviews/showReview.aspx?ID=474&Type=FL).

Standing by for questions...

Mr. Charvat:

Oklahoma sucks... :-)

I'm envious. The kit seems very good except for a couple of issues - I think the biggest being the rear turret hatch (I think it's the shell ejector hatch) as has been pointed in a previous thread. There have not been too many photos of the MGS w/ slat so I hope the AM folks can figure it out, unless there is access to a slat MGS.

How do you like the tow bar that is included? Is there still a choice of two DVE locations? That really should not be - only the one NEXT to the driver hatch is correct for the MGS.

Those lookiing to detail the model will want to add an MG shield, the Commander's Pan Viewer sunshield, and some other additions around the .50 cal area like a skate rail.

Mr. Burik,
That was rather harsh... OU is only up by 34-0 at the half over Washington, so I am thinking that they don't suck that bad...

I was surprised wit the tow bar being included and having the light vehicle version at that. There is also a mounting bracket that is found on the nose of the hull included in the kit. The DVE is mounted next to the hull and features the later, round DVE. I missed th eearlier comments on the shell ejection port so I will have find it as well as consult with the TM & photos that I have to get a real read on the situation.

Yeah, the Sooners have a cupcake today.

That is cool about the updated DVE too.

Someone pointed out awhile back that the shell ejector hatch is not flush w/ the rest of the turret like it should be - in comparing the teaser photos of the model we were provided.

Go Steelers!

So what are the other 2? 6+6+2=14; 16-14=2; There are 3 types of people in the world: those that can count and those that can't! Just kidding!

I'm actually envious of you: you have this already. Of all the Strykers the MGS is the coolest looking. I'm really looking forward to this one..... and Trumpeters 1127... and Centauro.....and LAV Mortar Carrier.... and LAV-R

So many 8-wheelers, so little time (and money!)

Enjoy the build and post pics as you go....

Sean,
Actually, the third group are those that can't type... 14 total sprues vice the 16 that I fat fingered into the original text. Thanks for the catch.

I would also like to see the M1129 Mortar carrier as I am currently working on a M1064 tracked mortar carrier using MR Model's conversion. I guess that I will need to make some space on the table to get the MGS going.

Some very positive reviews, and I'm looking forward to mine turning up at Panther Scale Models (quick plug!).

One question, though: is it just my imagination, or are all M1128s just green - even the ones in Iraq?
