Hi there,
As I am in between 2 campaigns I have sometime left for a small kit.
Considering that the German Army only consisted of one-third armoured divisions I've chosen DML's 6410 "German Cossack Cavalry".
Here are my results so far:
Hope you like it,
Peter

hello bud, not bad, but can i suggest some things,
tamiya paints arent the best to work with when painting figures,
(or horses lol) if you can, get your hands on some vallejo paints,
they are brillaiant and really easy to work with,
the pre shading didnt go to badly, its a good idea, if you shaded the natural shadow points,
(in creases, underneath protruding items) you would get a much nicer effect.
your saddle has a little FeldGrau overlapping onto the white, but thats no difficult fix, and if you spend a few more minutes defining the front harnessy thingy i think your in for a winner,
please dont take these comments badly, i am just giving friendy advice
:)
ps for the hooves i would go with a satin(?) brownish colour,
if you doo a google image search for horses you will get what i mean
ps again, it may be tedious work ( i know it for sure it bores me) but if you build up thin layers of paint as well you produce a better finish
what figures have you got to come with Mr. Horsie here then
all the best
James
(i hope i have helped and you find my critisisms constructive)

Hi James,
Thanks for your comments, I hadn't noticed the feldgrau, actually the real size is about 2" high and 3" long.
About the hooves, you're so right. I really thought that they were black. Coming from a rural area (I admit: flowerbulbs, but what can you expect from a dutchie ) I've should have known better.
I'll see to correct that.
Thanks again,
Peter

Hi James,
I've corrected the hooves and asked if my supplier has Vallejo. He has, but, as he placed them next to his Warcraftstuff I've allways thougt they were especially for Warcraft. I'm going there Saturday after work to collect some (bl**dy nightshift )
I also filled in the gaps.
About the front harnessy thingy, I forgot to mention this is a Dragon Generation 11/2. The cossacks are Gen1, but the horses are Gen2 and include complete PE for the harness. So allthough I admit they're not painted perfectly,I doubt that it will be visible after fixing the PE.
Here's a pic of the PE:

Peter,
its worth trying the vallejo first befor you buy loads of them, i find them good for figures and detaIl painting, but i nearly always use tamiya as basecoats on my figures, do you prime your figures? if not try to do so,vallejo sticks better to a nicely primed surface, citadels skull white primer is really good,
sorry the list is growing bigger
that pe looks tiny, !
have you done any more progress!?
have fun

Hi James,
Off course do I prime. I didn't go any further today, other than mentioned, I hope I'll find sometime this week.
The PE is tiny, eg the horseshoes are about 4 mm and the saddlebelt (the 2 double Y's) are NOT ribbled, but actually see through. Hope I can paint it.
Peter
PS I only rode a horse once, so I even don't know the names of harnessparts in Dutch, let alone in English.

Hi Guys,
I found sometime yesterday to do some painting and the results are in.
Saddle and Cossack are still loose on the horse, just placed for photoporposes. Tonight I will adjust the paint on the saddleclothand the harness. If the paint dries quick enough I'll send you all a fresh update.
