Hi Gang, I'm going to put together a set of ATL-06 metal tracks for my M. Whittman tiger 1 and could use some help ideas on how to get it done without burning the midnight oil...To much. I've seen pictures of what looks like sewing plastic round head sewing pins used. Is that just to line the holes up or is it used as a final track pin.
Thanks for all the feedback.

I take stapels flatten them out and cut to size. The glue that is used to hold them together aalso makes them stick in the track.

What I do is take the wire, put it in one pair of links and then bend it, snip it of and do the next. After 10 or 20, I take a break, do some other parts of the kit, and after a while, return to do another set of 10 or 20.
Doing complete runs in one go is indeed tedious and boring. But for a quick shortcut, the sewing pins are an option, as I've read that a certain type with a flathead is IDEAL as it fits snugly and secure in tracks with the width on a Tiger.
Apart from that option, no easier way I know of.

Hi John
I use sequin pins I get at sewing shops. Others use brass rod or just about
anything that's handy.
I'll get me a TV tray with all the parts and put them together while I watch TV.
Good Luck
Tony

You guys have too much time on your hands....
I have used brass wire and the soft wire that comes with the tracks. Both work fine. The brass is good for heavier tracks like the Tiger. I also put a drop of gel CA glue at the end, it seals the track pin in.

I use brass rod as well, works fine, its got that extra stiffness that allows it to go in easily, then I snip it off and go to the next link. As for time, well, there is no getting around that assembling track is a time consuming process. I try to assemble short runs, then join them up, the short runs seem easier to handle, maybe 20 or so links in a run. BTW, I personally like to assemble track while watching Stalag 17 (just a personal quirk I guess.)

Yes I do John. One guy grinds the heads down to look like
the real thing but that's too much sugar for a nickel.
I just clip them off.

I use the same method as described above with one exception, I usually watch "They Were Expendable" with Joohn Wayne or the Searchers (my personal favorite and I think his best).
