Might as well put this up. This is probably my first serious build and I learned quite a bit from this one.

Nice job Philip !!!
The camouflage looks really good for your first serious build.
You might want to add some straps made from paper or foil to the grenade box, panzerschreck and jerry can "hang" on the sides of your half-track.
They appear to be defying gravity, just like they were glued on !!!
You may want to add a hook or bolt and restraining plate to hold the spare wheel to the upper hull too.
Cheers

Hi Phillip, if thats the original Tamyia 251 you have done an excellent job on it I agree with john re the jerry cans and soforth but thats easily fixed, only one observation, the wheels are muddy yet the tracks are clean I would add a wash of mud on the tracks just to balance it.nice build

Thanks for the comments.
I do plan to add some wires to the stuff hanging off the sides; I built it straight out of the box, and the instructions just said to glue them on.
I haven't had time to put stuff inside yet, probably will get to that later on, as well as put some figures in. If I ever build another open top vehicle, I will put everything in before gluing the top and bottom halves together, this way it's so much easier to put stuff inside.
As for the tracks, I can't seem to paint them like other parts. I tried spraying a combination of Tamiya red brown and metallic gray, and it rolls right off. Then I tried silver drybrushing which worked. There's probably some trick to it that I don't know of yet.
All in all, it was a fun project, and I'm excited to do more later on.

Phillip, you may want to try spraying the tracks with a primer such as Mr surfacer 1000, that should bite onto the rubber and allow you to paint as you please. Looks very good, well done!

Hi Philip, for a first time serious build, there's nothing to be ashamed off!
It looks quite good.
There's enough said about the added on gear, so I'll just give you a tip on the soft tracks.
Most of the time these soft vinyltracks are coated in a substance (release agent) which makes it easier to get them out of the mould. You'll notice the tracks feel greasy. A good wash in a soapy bath will get that off and then painting is a lot easier.
You can best paint them after you fitted them to the vehicle, otherwise the paint will flake and fall off.
Untill your second, serious build!!!
