I have plan to purchase a few AM items for an Italeri Panzerjager I. Since I have not purchased any AM stuff before, I need some help. I know everyone has a preference, but what are the pros and cons of Model Kasten tracks compared to Friul tracks? I know injected vs workable metal, but really, which are the better choice. I'm also looking at a Jordi Rubio barrel as well as an Eduard set. This little kit is getting expensive.

Patrick,
The subject of AM tracks was brought up a few weeks ago on one of the ML dg's. Here is a link to that thread.

Bottom line for me the Modelkastens are nice but very tedious to assemble, and they are somewhat fragile. I'll take the Friuls any day if given a choice between the 2.

My opinion of tracks is that Friulmodel are better for larger tracks (Panzer III/IV sized and up) while Modelkasten are better for smaller tracks (like the Panzerjager I). I have found that the smaller links are easier to assemble as MK tracks than Friulmodel and they are just as sturdy as Friulmodel. Some of the MK small links (like the Panzer I links are practically click together and need very little glue to assemble. For this kit I would highly recommend going with MK, but the next time you do a StuG, Panther, Tiger, T-34, etc. I would get Friulmodel.
