So, some weeks ago I decided that I was gonna try start putting together a diorama, since I haven't done one in years. The diorama will depict a german defence possition in Baltikum in the winter of 1944/45. An SU-100 have driven into the trench and some german soldiers will be standing around it. It's my first try at making a brick wall from scratch. This is how far I have come right now. The ground work is a mixture of plaster, sand, some static grass and white glue.
First up some pictures of the diorama befor paint.
The first layers of paint. First a layer of black and then some shades with white.
I proceded to paint the walls, rubble and wood areas.
Finaly, this is where I am now. Today i weathered the wood and wall/rubble.
Next up is painting the rest of the ground work, adding some more stuff (maybee a blown of tree, some more rubble etc.) and then get on the figures and tank. Hope you all like it so far, and please, comment!!

Hard to make out but it's looking pretty good so far. What is going to go in it? Bob

Looks good so far. It will start to come to life when figures get added to it.
Just remember to make the build up look man made (dirty and no grass).

Tjena Henrik.
What you´ve done looks very good ... the trench walls and flooring look very good .... but
would you need to dig a trench so near a wall?
Would it not be easier to just take cover behind the wall?
Would there have been anything to dig here as the wall looks to have an entrance and therefore would have been open space?
Not trying to be smart .... just trying to see the logic of both trench and wall!

Yeah, I was thinking about this, and there are two answers. One is that i wanted to try and make a wall from scratch, and the other one is that the trench is a part of a longer deffence line.

All parts of your dio look very nice. Details are very good. I really like it, but I agree with Frank. There is something wrong witch the composition. If you want to use the wall as the part of fortification I suggest you to move the wall higher to the level of the ground. I hope you know what I mean.

Nice compact composition as far as I can make out with a healthy dose of rubble, soil and debris thus far. Perhaps you can take an overall shot from far to allow us to see the entire view and we can have a better feel of the layout.
Looks like you are off to a good start.

Nice going Henrik, it looks good.
However I think the positioning of the wallsection is not correct. trenches were dug into the ground and the way you are showing it suggests there was a lot of ground build up in front of the wall.
I think you should raise the wall up to groundlevel. This way the compoisition would be correct.
As far as the combination trench/wall goes, I remember seeing somethinh like it in the past of some photo's. Maybe you should extend the trench through the dooropening. This way the wall really becomes part of the trenchsystem.
Just a few thoughts...
keep it up!

Looks good, although I tend to agree with Ron on the wall thing. Looking forward to see more.

Making great progress Henrik! Welcome back to developing dioramas! Looking forward to seeing some figures and your SU-100 in it. Like how your weathering has come out on your wood, nice!
Thanks for sharing, cheers -
