Just an update on this project,i have managed to get the 13 figures painted and installed onto the truck at last.
Working on the basework still and will post final pictures when complete.
Comments and critique welcome.

Not usually my kind of thing the Russian stuff but this is a very nice job indeed.By the looks of some of their faces a few bottles wouldnīt go amiss.I like your painting.Did you use Vallejo?

Thanks for the replies everyone, still some minor work to do on the figures but this will be done when the basework colours are added so i can syncronise the colours.
Mike..the faces were done with vallejo but the rest is all done with cheap art store acrylics, the large bottles you get for Ģ1.00,i find they are great to use and you get a lot more in the bottle than vallejo

I never go through Mc Donalds drive through, because I would wind up behind a vehicle like this. Just get 13 happy meals and get out of the way! Nice work, I like it.

Hey Steve,
Very nice looking Krupp Protze but the figures are superb.
I remember seeing your earlier posting when you started this project and was hoping you'd post some finished photos.
Looking forward to seeing the finished diorama.
Cheers

The end product looks stunning Steve. Very cool idea to use the Krupp Protze instead of the usual tank or truck. Wish I had your sculpting skills ... its only the imagination thatīll limit you now for your next projects, as your sculpting is excellent!

Frank thanks for that mate,i will be doing more things with 1/35 scale in the future,it is a scale i dont normally work in as i normally like the larger scales for sculpting but i did enjoy this project.
i have an Opel Blitz waiting to be built next,i wonder how many figures i could fit into that .

C'mon Steve my friend why do you post such stuff in one of the bottom ends of Armorama, i nearly missed your update
Well I think it looks good.. but I would have had a few suggestions if the whole work was to be done again:
When i did my military service in 1992 they just couldn't find anything to cloth me because i am rather long limbed. So I had over large trousers which were new and of some sort of *shiny* green kakhi tint. for the upper part of the uniform, they found me some very old too short shirts whose colour was greysih and of a very bizarre washed out green jean look. the good point is that i never had to salute the bloody flag in 10 months.
Can you imagine those *russians" in *wartime* having uniforms of the exact tint while their factories were scattered all over the place?
Second point: Russians came at that time from all sorts of places, from Siberia to Turkmenistan to Bielorussia to etc. they didn't have the same skin complexion.
So I think that I would have done my Russians in all shapes and tints!
but now I just can't wait for the whole of th diorama of course

Nick..thanks for the comments mate and i will post updates soon.
JBA..hello my friend and thankyou for your input on the figures.I am not entirely happy with the uniform colours and once the groundwork is done i will look at adding some more tones into the mix.As for the ethnic backgrouds i was restricted by the supply of hornet heads i had to use,i would of like to have thrown some mongolian features into some of the figures.
I will take your points on board for the next project as i intend to do another one in the future.
Thanks
Steve

Hi Steve, that's a bunch of Russians having fun I guess. I like the idea and the figures are posed in the car nicely. I'm looking forward to the final result of your paint work, you said something about adding more tones in the clothing, good point ! But your paint work is lovely to look at, it's just a matter of color tones. I wish you luck and fun, finishing this diorama. G.

Thomo and DJ..thanks guys.
Guy..i wont overdo the colours but i think they need a bit of ariety to the shades, one thing i dont want to do is over highlight and shade,im not a big fan of this type of painting as it can result in a comic type caracter appearance.
Thanks
Steve
