I am building the new AV club kit and wondered if this variant is fitted with slat armour in Iraq as I can not find any pictures ot it online.

Yes it has slat in Iraq just like all Strykers. And it may be a long time until we see slat for the MGS since it has a different set set up to allow for the turret rotation, and as you say there are few photos online, so I can't imagine the AM folks will have an easy time interpreting the slat set up for the MGS, unless they get access - which I don't see either, for now.
Still, there are plenty of opportunities to make interesting MGS models in a training environment.

it does have slat, but it doesnt have the same slat as current strykers are wearing.
ETA: 4/2 SBCT is the only one to employ it in country so far. they just came back in june/july.

Pascal, both Mike and I are gathering some nice MGS photos for our WWP book that will feature the MGS - vehicles from 5/2, 4/2 and 56th. There will be some with slat and some without slat. Some even in maintenance with the turret pulled off. I hate to seem like a tease, but I wanted to point out why we can't post photos.
We have not decided exactly how we are laying out the book, but other thoughts are to cover changes and upgrades not discussed in the excellent first two installments, as well as chronological order of all those changes along w/ deployments - since there seems to be much confusion there. But overall the idea is to show the Stryker - and Stryker Bde - in action, and not just at the motorpool, whether with slat or not, and deployed or at home station.

This is a very cool photo w/ some interesting details. This must be early in the 4/2 deployment since the TC does not have a shield on the MG. Hull plugs hanging. Rhino. Camo net. Duke (other MGS photo shows the Warlock instead). Plate in front of the drive on lower hull.

I am posting this as an example on how fast changes happen within the SBCT community. The 4/2 MGS picture in the above thread was how they looked and operated early in 4/2s tour. While in country, they received the gunner’s shields, external coolers for A/C, warlocks, dukes, ICE antennas, etc and it is common knowledge 4/2 was the first SBCT to deploy with them. Now saying that, 4/2 redeployed June / July of this year. Their connexs are being delivered now, and shortly if not now their vehicles will be at the port of Tacoma or Olympia. how does this fit in;
Now SBCT# 6 which is the Pennsylvania National Guard has had their strykers on ground for about a month and half, completed gunnery and GDLS has took lesson learned from 4/2 and now the MGS looks like this.
I haven’t posted pics until now, because Bob and I are working on this book. As he said, we are trying to lay out a product that covers the vehicle and soldiers during each tour, the vehicles and the way they went into country, crew modifications during, and how primitive modifications I.E. sand bag walls, became the crew blast shields that are on the newer strykers. This way the changes are laid out in such a way it is easy to track.
also as Gino and others have pointed out several times over various stryker threads, there are things that OPSEC doesn’t allow us to say or elude to or post pictures of. so we are not being information horders as i have been told via PM.
for once a definitive time change for us stryker modellers will be set. once the 56th deploys, the current Photo-etch SLAT armor wont be applicable for the SBCT's since its design has changed. but for the MGS, the PE SLAT isnt correct anyways.

Thanks for the update Mike,
A good modeller can always wait....lots of other projects to work on in the mean time.....and it looks like the book you are developing will be a terrific asset.
