I think you will find this site of interest Alan as regards your interest in the Universal Carrier. I also saw what was left of a churchill A22 SP at bovington that is being left to rust away.

Hey Darren,
I mentioned to Al sometime back that I was thinking about building a similar "what if" vehicle on the Tamiya Centaur/Cromwell chassis:

Definitely something to consider when the AFV Club Churchill comes out !!
Cheers

Hi Darren,

Many thanks for the link. Some interesting looking vehicles there and some good new pics.

I'd seen the carrier AA version before , a real robot like affair lol, lol, but that is a good pic of the guns.

Thanks again.

Al

Thanks for the link.
I like the Bob Semple of New Zealand was that like a fore runner to todays slat armour or were they thinking something else. And how did you ever get 8 people into this thing let alone move around.

There is a Mantis at Bovington however they are in the middle of moving into a new build so a number of exhibits I was unable to locate, a huge number of WW1 vehicles have gone missing and I look forward to trying to find them again. I was also cheeky on the previous visit to this one and was given the chance to have a look through the vehicles that sit in the compound outside the museum, my main reason was to obtain pictures of derelict hulks and how mother nature reclaims these metal beasts. The Churchill A22 SP was a target on the ranges at some point and is in a bad way, however I would like to see it breath again due to its rarity, I would show some pictures I took but I had to sign a waiver in order to gain access. Worth noting is despite this vehicles current situation as regards corrosion and shell damage the sprockets at the front still turn freely by hand!
