Bill, here is one left on my current hard drive. I was wrong about the number - there are 91 for the MH-47 alone. I don't remember how many for the other two birds, but it's a "goodly" number.

Obviously, you're going to have to modify the Delta nose.

Wonderful. Do these count as armour or should we be over in Aeroscale under Rotary? These things are like tanks that fly anyway.
Thanks very much, I look forward to your release of the DVD/CD.

I'd rather stick to one forum, for the time anyway. No more CD's for the moment. I discovered my Iraqi signs images had been passed around without permission by someone.
You're welcome to what I have though.

There is a great in-progress conversion of the Trumpeter 1/35 CH-47D into an MH-47E at Finescale Modeler's Helicopter Forum. It looks awsome and Andy is planning on a resin conversion kit of it.

It is hard to keep media from being pirated as the thread with the water boxes and pop boxes illustrated. CD's will be the same I'm afraid unless you generate a proprietary software that shows the images without allowing downloading, but then they become harder to use and defeats the purpose. Adobe Photoshop CS has resolved that issue but then Adobe has deep pockets too. I wish I could suggest a solution for you. You might want to approach Corbis.com or Getty images and manage the sales of your images that way, ghost your logo over the picture and sell high rez without the logo. There are free web sites where you can post thumbnails of your images and if some one wants one they contact you for a hi rez image. It seems to me that certain people would pay for detailed walk-arounds of specific subjects and others just want to collect images for reference "in case" they build something.
You are in a special situation with access to specific and specialized subjects. You know what people are interested in because you read the posts and threads. Good reference material is essential to making accurate models period. I'd think instead of hunting for hours and days on the internet for a subject I'd rather go to you and buy a suite of images of the subject I want to model and be done with it. Start a web site to show your wares and modellers will come.
You are a generous guy and in the past you have helped me out by sharing your images and I want you to know I really appreciate your kindess, thankyou again.

I contacted Mother aka "Joe" about the CH-47D because I know nothing about them. His enthusiasm and many links lead me to Andy's conversion project (and many other sites) on the Fine Scale Modellers forum. I emailed him and put my name on the list. His work is exceptional and now I have this huge box with the 1/35th scale CH-47 waiting to be chopped up... I think I need professional help.
Joe also linked me to Andy's build of the UH-60L which is just crazy, so of course I had to order one of those too, as if I'll ever have enough time in this life to build them all the way I'd like too.

I also saw your name there and have subsequently checked your show cases out, very impressive indeed. I think you have a soft spot for helicopters, you've certainly built many and know a lot about them.
Thanks for the heads up.
Regards
Bill

Hi Bill,
Yes, I do love whirley-birds. I wanted to fly when I came in the Army, but didn't qualify due to poor eyesight. I am now at 20/10+ due to Lasik, oh well, maybe someday. I do love building them though. Also love going up in them. I have had a little time behind the stick too. Good luck on your builds, now that the helo bug has bitten, there's no turning back.

Thanks for the encouragement, now I'll need to build onto my house to display them. I need some detailed closeup pics that show the CH-47E rotar hub that shows how the blades nest together, I'll never be able to have the blades out. Your collection of Helo figures on the Rotary Wing forum helped me a lot, thanks for the work you put into it.
Regards
Bill

Bill, You are always welcome to anything I have since you helped out the IA Recce Platoon that I worked with. I never really intended to sell images, although I did produce CD's of the different Strykers at Ft. Lewis, and of the Iraqi village and city signs.
I make enough money in both my civilian and military jobs, so it's not so much about that. I get requests all of the time from people I've never heard from, sometimes asking for pretty hard to get stuff. Granted I DO have access to all of the 160th birds, but it still takes time, as it did in Iraq, hunting down photos for people. Last April, I spent a great deal of time sending two groups of photos to Primeportal. One walkaround was even on their specific request list. Bear in mind this was BEFORE the flooding in the US. None of the photos have ever been added to their site. Needless to say, I won't be doing that again.
My computer is so bogged down with images (over 11,000 at last count) that it takes forever to do anything on it, hence the recent purchase of an external hard drive solely to facilitate helping folks out with photos like the ones I was sending from Iraq. (And talk about slow - it sometimes took 20 minutes to upload ONE photo to Photobucket. That's gym time) That's why it is irksome to discover that someone has no regard for the time and money invested in doing this. Okay rant mode off. I may offer up the SOAR pics sometime, but for now, I hope you can use these pics. I believe it is an Echo model, taken a few years ago when the birds were stripped down for a total overhaul. I may have a few more of the rotor head, but I'll have to check other files.

I understand your rant. Other members here have said that inconsiderate members ask for stuff all the time and never say thank you. Thank should never be implied but said to ensure the giver is recognized for their time, patience and resources. For anyone who takes the time to search the net, to grab the camera, to scan a picture for some one here so they can see that special image that will make their build better or inspire a new direction, they are special people.
With pictures like you often offer us are very special because these subjects are in use (or were just recently) and we civi's would never get the chance to see things from your perspective.
In my other world I face the same things all the time. I maintain camera, lens, computers, printers and people squabble over use fees and copyright.
Great pictures by the way. Can you explain how the rotars are actually unlocked so they can be folded? I'm sure there is an electric switch that unlocks a pin that allows the coupling to move the wings in the opposite direction of rotation that allows them to be folded. Perhaps another scale CH-47 would have this issue addressed already but I don't think this Trump kit allows for folding.
Your images will certainly help when it comes to building and painting that area.
Regards
Bill

Gino, that's pretty ironic. I was ready to enlist in the Army to become a helicopter pilot. Just before my senior year of high school I had to get glasses. Fortunately the recruiter who I had been in contact with was honest that it just wouldn't happen. I had the grades for college, so I thought I'd learn to engineer and build helicopters instead. Of course that didn't quite work out due to a major downturn in aerospace when I graduated. I sometimes wonder what things would have been like.

Don't get me wrong, I was coming in as an officer either way, just not flight. I wanted to be an Army Officer more than a pilot. I had an Army scholorship for ROTC. I am happy that I am an Artilleryman. Blowing $h!t up is fun too, still love helos though.

Well I was just a dumb kid then. Now I'm too damn old.

I had a friend in high school with full Air Force ROTC ride to college. One week into college decided it wasn't for him and quit. About six months later enlisted in the Army and wound up jumping out of perfectly good airplanes instead! Lost touch a few years ago, but he has to be close to 20 years active duty.
