Guys
This was built along the lines of the AEC turreted lebonese staghound
Iused leftover parts of a cromwell turret and resin copy parts in beige
Its the italeria kit which went together well
Ihave the Bronco kit that ill get around to building sometime
Ive always liked this type of staghound and decided to do my own version
it was great fun to do and i enjoyed the build
I think ill do it as a recon vehicle of The 5th Royal Inniskilling Dragoon Guards
all comments welcome
regards andrew

Cool. I really like what if vehicles. My favorite is definitely the Maus. The only thing wrong with it is that the Cromwell turret has a bunch of large bolts on the turret that are missing on yours.

I don't know what purpose these served, but this being a what if vehicle, you can get away with it.

Great work!

Andy,

Hey looks goods.
There's three things that stick out on this.
First, the Cromwell turret was too heavy, the Brit's did however use the Crusader III turret, which sported the M3 75mm, this variant was the Staghound III. Another variant used the M8's Howitzer turret. Only one pilot model was build before the project was terminated in Dec. '43.
Second, Is that the jettisonable fuel tanks were replaced by large stowage bins on both sides.
And lastly the bow machine gun was removed.

I hope you don't take personally. I know some guys are touchy when it comes to they're work. Overall looks good.

See ya.

Andrew, Great! Yes, the Cromwell Turret WOULD have been too heavy, but since you did something imaginative - what the hell

Maybe we've got the beginnings of a campaign idea here

Thanks for posting!

Hi

I think it's a nice little "what if" as you said in your title, and it does look very similar to the Lebanese vehicle you mentioned. I'm surprised your concept is be deemed to large and heavy as the Lebanese conversion looks pretty close to what you've done with the Cromwell turret . Coincidently
as Terry over at PMMS shows, Best Models have just announced a kit of the very one you mentioned

A nice what if.
Scott, the bolts you mention were used to attach plate armour to the main turret shell. I'm guessing Andrew has left this off as a weight saving measure because of the issue of the Cromwell turret being to heavy?

It'll look great when painted up though. I also admire your resin casting skills.

Im guessing you live in Armagh mate? I currently live in Omagh, small world!

Guys thanks
for your comments.
I left of f the Cromwell turret armour as i thought it would be too heavy for the Staghound chassis and i was after the same smooth turret sides as the Lebonese version
Brian dont worry i wont take your comments personaly
im very pleased you all took the time to comment on my build
Im glad you all liked it
im looking forward to painting it
Thanks Alan for the link to the conversion kit
it looks good and I think id like to get one
I had no idea it existed
James yes i live in County Armagh
If my build inspires others ill be very pleased

Looking pretty good Andrew, like what you've done regarding the "what if" vehicle. Thanks for sharing this, good luck with some paint!

Cheers -

Looks Great Andrew

'What-If' project are gathering steam I think. I'm starting to see more and more of them and I think it's fun.

Heck, if we can have a 'Tiger Tank on Mars or the Moon' discussion, why not your project. Looks great, have fun.......
