Hi gents!

Got this picture from my cousin. He took it last year during his ISAF Mission in Afghanistan. He took this pic somewhere around Kabul. Interesting to see that either the Soviets or the Afghan-Army used another pair of "passive armour" to "complete" the protection around the turret and it´s side. Thought I should share this one with everybody who´s interested.

Best regards,

Hi Martyn!

Glad you like it!

His tour went pretty okay and he stayed safe. He is a hungarian soldier and allready served 6 months in Bosnia (SFOR) and now 6 months in Afghanistan. Due to the bad "catering" in Afghanistan he got diabetes and now is forced to take insulin several times a day. But fortunately (after a long discussian with the command) he kept his job. He just loves it, and never complained about it. He has a lot of stories to share. He used to drive a UNIMOG, a Mercedes "Wolf" and, his favourite, a brand new BTR-80A God bless him.

Best regards,

Andreas

Hi Aleksey

Glad you like the pic!

Well, at least i have never ever seen a pic of a T-62 with 4 Elements of passive armour, only with 2. If you have more pics or additional info on this particular feature, please let us know as I thought about a possible conversion for the new Trumpeter kit. (Once i´ts released)

Best regards,

Andreas

I thought it was a T-55AM1, an upgraded T-55 with horseshoe armour on the turret.

Look again Guys. It's a T-62 with BDD "Horseshoe" armour BUT the intersting part is that it has and extra set around the sides/rear of the turret. That's the different part.

Osprey's "Tank War Central Front" has a colour plate of a T-62 with the horseshoe armour on the turret. Are there any aftermarket kits with this armour? would this be the turret depicted by the SP designs kit #202 T-62 M1-2 m1983/75 (L,U,B,MG)

Thanks,
Mike
