Hi All,

I have most of Bandai's 1/48 kits of their AFVs, soft-skins, guns, etc. Before I spend the time and bandwidth photographing and writing reviews of them, how much interest have you in putting them on site? Bear in mind that not many of the molds survived, and many of the survivors were badly degraded when Frog reproducded them in China.

Most kits you may have to pay inflated prices for on auction sites.

That in mind, would you like to see these reviewed?

If so, a regular review? Or something basic to help decide whether or not to spend the money aquiring a give kit?

Contact other 1/48'ers and mull it over. It'll be a couple of weeks before I could start, though I have submitted the US 37mm anti-tank gun. See the Sd.Kfz. 231 Schwerer Panzerspähwagen , built and on-site.

Let us know.

Fred, a difficult question to answer. I think my response would be that it'd be a lot of work for a product line which is effectively defunct.

We DO need to get 1/48th scale more coverage on the site. There are people working on items such as the BlackDog sets as we speak. We don't see nearly enough of Reviews of the current crop of available models in quarter-scale.

No, the current Tamiya range doesn't cover nearly as many subjects as the old Bandai range did and there ARE models which i'd like to get hold of - but i'm not prepared to pay premium for a model which is going to be complaetely reworked anyway.

Not easy to give a simple Yes or No to your original questions!

I did a feature on 1/48 vs. 1/35 that featured a Bandi kit.
I'm also doing a number of the BlackDog reviews Jim mentioned. I tend to agree that individual full review like we see for current kits may be a bit of overkill.
So - how about something along the lines of a 'series' review or manufacturer review. Take a 'global' look at the 1/48th scale Bandi kits in general. Maybe highlight some of the good points (and bad points) about the entire line. That way people can get a better idea of what they are getting into if they pay a 'gajillion' dollars for a out of production kit.

Fred:

I wrote a brief article some years back.

If you want to collaborate, we could simply expand it...
