Hi all,
Anyone know of an etch set that contains a pair of glasses / spectacles, I want to add a little something different to my latest figure.
TIA,
Andy

The only set I can remember with photo-etch glasses is Tristars "German officers field session" set #6. Here is a link to a review of the kit. I don't know if Aber sells the set separately.

The Tristar German Officers Field Session set has 2 pairs of eyeglass frames in photoetch brass, which should be just what you need. One thing to consider, though, is that at that scale the frames around the glasses would be invisible at that period. The P/E ear pieces are fine, but the frames around the lenses look out of scale for the period - I think that part of the frame would be invisible at that scale.

Thanks for the replies gentlemen, I shall look out for this set. However, at the risk of being branded a heretic, I don't build german subjects (dramatic silence !!) so will have to pass the figures on to a fellow modeller.
Now if someone has a spare etch set that they are not going to use, that I could perhaps purchase or swap for something, we could be in business

Hi Andy,
I can't help much except to suggest scratchbuilding. They look extremely simple to do yourself with a VERY thin piece of copper wire. To get the circular shape, twist around a needle etc. I've never done it before so I'm no expert. Give it a try though, you may be surprised and it'll save you money (unless that factor doesn't worry you )
Just out of interest, what subjects do you model? I don't focus very much on German subjects myself!

Oop I just found this:
https://armorama.kitmaker.net//features/274
In my honest opinion, and no disrespect to the author, but I do not think it is a particularly good feature, a bit outdated, since it was written in 2003.

Probably will have a go at scratchbuilding - thought I would ask first though.
Mainly Vietnam subjects, just got back into the hobby after a few years and trying to get to grips with all the new techniques.
If I've done this right there should be a couple of photo links attached (sorry about the blurriness)
Still work in progress, trying to get the hang of acrylics !
What about yourself ?

Those figures look great, especially the faces and camo helmet! Looks like you have acrylics just about mastered to me. Are you planning a diorama?
I concentrate on Japanese, Australian and British subjects in the Pacific WW2.
Good work mate and I hope your spectacles turn out well whatever you end up doing.
