Hey guys. I'm going out soon to get some new paints for my British infantry (Normandy 1944). I was wondering what paints are suitable for painting their uniforms, preferably from the panzer aces line from vallejo. I already bought kit no.6 with flesh tones, and splinter camo pattern paints but I need one for my brits now. I'd also be willing to try humbrol, or any other brand, and before I forget, I have some Citadel paints leftover from my days of 40K but I'm not sure which colours are good for brits. Thanks!

I wouldn't mind using oils on my figures as well, if the outcome looks better than acrylic.

Humbrol is M26 I think.
Vallejo actually do a colour called British Uniform, Can't remember the code. Google British Battledress and you should get some idea of the colour.

Hi Kieran,
Vallejo English Uniform is about the closest for the DB, Buff toned down or light khaki for the webbing, Soldiers ammo boots black, officers red/brown. Helmets olive green or OD and worn down.
Hope that helps.

Battle Dress was manufactured in numerous small plants in the UK and elsewhere in the Commonwealth, so variations in cut and color were seen. The British made suits tended to be a mid brown color, and were cut rather closely to save fabric. Canadian made suits were often a more greenish brown, and were sought after by the troops because of their more generous cut.
And as always, mass produced uniform items seldom matched each other precisely, as jackets and trousers were seldom made from the same batch of cloth, and may not have even been sewn in the same factory. So always vary the shades of each article of equipment and clothing on a figure.
