Does this set only come with the EAAK panels? Are there any upgrades or extras in it for the vehicle itself? I'm trying to justify the price and having a hard time at it.

Gino,
I just picked up this set at a show this past weekend (I got a bargain price ). I have only taken a quick look so far but it did also include a set of resin sprockets (not sure if they're an improvement over the kit supplied ones though?) If no one else has answered your post I'll take a closer look tonight and see what else may be in the box.
Mike

That set comes with all panels, steps, ladders, and those posts that hold the upper hatch doors in place. It also comes with hatches (2) headlights (2) and the old style exhaust.
If you want some pics of the parts layout, I can send them out tonight. PM me your email addy.
btw, I've got three sets (hint, hint).

Maybe...its been on their "Coming Soon" list for about 2 years now. Nothing yet. Also, I already have all the other parts...Tamiya kit, Blast RAMS/RS running gear, HF interior, etc., etc. Might as well finish out the sets. If HB does come out w/thiers, its another to build.

Hadn't thought of that...
Hay! if you Build it, then HB WILL release the kit!
I've got the EEAK mounting kit as well as the HF EEAK, & the 'knock-off' kit with the plastic EEAK..' the mfr name escapes me..
the HF interior is over USD$100 at the mo, so will pass on that right now...
but will watch your build blog with great interest

I have the Trumpeter/MiniHobby EAAK from their kit too, it just looks pretty poor to me, soft on detail and missing quite a few panels on the roof an a few other areas. If you have the HF mounting kit, you don't need the EAAK set. It is either or, they are not used together. I happened to get the interior for a steal at a show, less than $60.
I probably won't start it any time soon though. I just started a 1/35 USCG MH-60J Jayhawk conversion.

Thanks Gino
Couldn't remember the knock off mfr name as most of my stuff is still in packing from last move (!)
I have both the early Tamiya LVTP7 original boxing, & the MiniHobby with EAAK, then both the HF EAAK set & HF mounting kit.
From your earlier posts on you scratched interior, & others, I realised that they were not used together...
but since both HF were e8@y steals i'd planned to one EEAK & one with measles... (mount kit)
Congrats onbagging the interior, I'll keep a weather eye for it, but the price will have to be right eg cheap enough
BTW, could any of the up-armoured AAV's (or LVTP's) be build without the RAMS running gear upgrade?
I cut my teeth on the HF LVTP5 Interior, with most of the scars healed now, must finish it in time for next hobby show...

Hey Henri,
those photos sure brings back memories of not too long ago. And I've 5 more tracks waiting on the shelf to be built!
I hope HB gets their kits going--Has anyone tried writing to them?

I'm not Geoff, but the answer is here:

pics from the Tokyo hobby show.
I agree Rob, there does appear to be at least a rudimentary interior in there. It also looks like they have included the newer exhaust muffler, but the older style running gear.

Ahh, the classic 'stopper your mouth'! Always a great line to use at social events. So much nicer than 'shut yer gob'

I had totally forgotten about that thread, (even though I added a couple of posts to it ). Jeez, life is just too crazy right now.

I wish they'd hurry up and release it. I want one! But isnt Hobby Boss famous for promising a kit and then never releasing it?? I am still waiting on that Navy Seal DPV.... Jeez, by the time it hits the shelves, the Iraq war is gonna be over and its not going to be as interesting for us modern builders

Well I hope HB releases it soon---For the fact they included an interior-I would think (or at least hope) they did their homework and got all the measurements and details right. It'll be fantastic to also follow up on the other versions. I would certainly buy a load!

The interior looks good. Just a little tweak here and there. And lots of soldering wire. The real thing has hell of alot more cables and hoses running through out the vehicle.
jon_a_its- only the AAV with the Upgunned Weapon station has the RAM/RS suspension old LVTP7 had the old style turret with only the 50 Cal.
Kelley: your correct that the only thing wrong with it. Other then that I will buy one.
Since the troop compartment hatches open and the center beam is a seprate piece. I think i might just ahve to start scratchbuilding a MK 154 line charge kit for it.

Got a deep wallet, they are also offering the original LVTP7 as well as the uppgunned version:

If they are up to the standard shown then these will be excellent models.

I sure do hope so!
And to think I already punched a hole in my wallet to get all of Hobbyfans' AAVP7A1's interior, mounting blocks, EAAK armor and Recovery conversion..and another 4 Tamiya AAVs..! Oh well the more the merrier
