Hi everybody, I new to the site, just got Internet!

As I've been browsing I have not seen any pics of IDF Air Cav M113's.

Does anybody have any info if the IDF every used M113 with the normal Air Cav coupler and screens on the Mg's?

I have seen pics of South Lebanon Army with them?

Thanks

I think you mean the M113 ACAV (Armored Cavalry) version with gun shields. They may have early on when they first got them, but quickly updated them to their own versions with added armor and FN FALs instead of M60s off the back deck.

Academy has a great M113A2 w/Zelda armor that goes for about $25. I would go with it (and have actually).

Hi

Thanks for the advice, Ive got the Zelda, and the M113 Fitter, and a Vulcan, and the Command version, all in the stash, that I will build in IDF, but I also have the ACAV, and fancy having a good range.

If I swap the M60's for FN's could it work?

Would such an early M113 for IDF have the side storage that they fitted?

Thanks

I have never seen any IDF M113s w/the ACAV shields on the rear MGs. Maybe if they got some that way they might have used them until they were updated. Pretty much all IDF M113s I have seen had at least the stowage bars/racks on the sides.

The IDF never used the US type Cav M60 machine gun shields. That weapon was never employed. The IDF has used the domestic made FN and 50 Cal machine guns. There are several good books referencing the "Zelda" during the 1970s, 80s and 90s which should help you in your quest. BTW, interesting to note, the US armed forces are using the FN machine gun. Hope this helps. Ted

The ACAV vehicles are from the Lebanese Army, which received them directly from the US. There are some interesting color schemes for them, from dark green to MERDC.

...FN FALs instead of M60s off the back deck.

Wouldn't that be the FN-MAG, not the FAL?

Yup, not enough coffee. The FN FAL is an individual weapon. The FN MAG is the 7.62 mm MG version, a.k.a. M240 in US service.
