Does anyone have any pics of Vietnam Gun trucks with m113 body on the back?

Specifically where the M113 and the truck chasis meet, but any pics will do

Thanks,
Evan

Here are some of my pics.

http://gallery.kitmaker.net/showgallery.php?cat=13870

The stripped out shell was placed in the cargo bed of the M 54 five ton cargo truck. We kept them in place with chains on the front a down each side of the rear. They sat flush on the cargo floor. All of the interior with the exception of the commanders seat and stand was removed. These set ups were very top heavy and it took a very steady hand to drive them. A very good friend of mine was the turret gunner on the King Kong.

Another quick question......maybe you'd know this one too Animal

Were the engines taken out of the M113's and what was the interior used for(storage maybe)?

Thanks,
Evan

Hi,
I think Dave will say the same things as me.

All M113 parts that was not usefull for this gun truck conversion , were put out.

This for making the add on armor (M113 hull) much lighter as possible. So engine was not in the gun truck.

Its one from my next project, thinking to the Kings Cong or Kobra, just time to havr the good references too make realistic markings.
Cheers

Pascal is right. the engine is removed. Some of the crews used this as a way for the driver to enter the APC from the truck cab. They gutted the shell as much as they could. Some of the later trucks had another inner wall added to the sides on the insides for double wall protection., The thin skin hull was good for stopping small arms fire, but no good against RPG rounds or heavy machine gun rounds. The new inner walls did a lot to remedy this problem.

Interesting how they used the engine compartment to get from the cab to apc

Thanks for the pics

Bonsoir Frenchy

yes they are done with avery nice drawing with all detailed painting and the rear marking is also very nicely drawn !!
As they are waterslide with avery thin varnish they do not absolutly give any "silvering" effect
Have you built some model like this one yet ?

In this decals there are 14 different M113 with 12 non armored version as us and italian Police version and 2 firefighting version on M113 and also on M548

Am in the process to built all different versions and probably will post them there

Looks like a nice set. I like the police and fire M113s too. I did the M54A1/M113 guntruck "King Cobra" a while ago. There were no decals for it, so all the King Cobra specific markings are by hand. The bumper numbers were pieced together from other sets.

The Police ones sound cool. Are you sure the Tampa one is black? Tampa is my home town and all their tactical vehicles I have seen are a very dark blue.

If it is this one, it is dark blue. The roadwheels are black, you can see they are darker than the hull.

Ouuuuups !!Many thanks Gino

Got just in time ...it was planned to be painted to morrow
Ok will paint it very dark blu
Yes I noticed he had Soucy tracks ( I have sourced many pairs at the french shop doing these because there are some more one to have these rubber tracks- the yellow one from Calhoun county _)
Before being art of Armorama I was asking on other forums what was the colors of different SWAT vehicle but neither had any info about the TAMPA ( we decided also to have the stripe yellow and grey from what we understood from 5 different pics we got )
Yes these decals will be avaible for all M113 collectors thru some vendor ( am trying to contact some friends in the job)
but I want first to have one of each built to have some pics and check if they are all ok
Possibly I can also trade some with some M113 convertion I need for the big collect I started ( Mapple leaf convertion arvl for example will be very very welcome)
