Started the old Airfix 234/4 kit for the Wheeled AFV's & Tracked APC's Campaign.

Originally bought this for my youngest son but “it was too small to build” so I’ll build it while I’m waiting for the paint & weathering to dry on my E-10. It comes w/ a few figures so I’ll make I small dio out of it and give it back to him as an x-mas present. LOL

Airfix originally kitted this about 40-50 years ago so the detail is somewhat light to nonexistent. I’m going to try casting parts for the first time, which works out well because this kit needs a lot of details added. And at $2.99 if it does not work out – no major loss.

The worst problem is the fenders, which are the split type from a 232 or 233 – easy fix w/ some scrap sheet and putty.

Started to add some interior detail (trans. hump, door locks, rear armor panel).

Hand to scratch rear drivers seat and radio, kit had none.

Thanks for looking - more to come.

Well – the last post did not generate much interest but maybe this will.

The Pak 40 had no detail so I scratched all the parts not green. Not perfect but a lot better then nothing

Keep up the braille scale action Neo.
It's great to see these old kits get a bit of TLC

Thanks guys.

I’ve been building all scales but I’m really starting to get into Braille. I build SO SLOW that I need to limit the size or it will take me forever to finish.

I’m drawn to these old kits (trying to recapture my youth?). LOL

Neo,

Just noticed this post and I like it! I had started this kit some four years ago and have not gone back to see it through (mine is not as detailed as yours is . . . ) Viewing your progress is very inspirational, this may just be the kick start that I need to go back and get mine done!

Your doing an outstanding job of scratch building and rebuilding needed detail. Keep up the excellent work. Never imagined that I would see anyone post a step by step build on this kit You have my undivided attention, Neo!

Thanks for the feedback Eddy – pull that old kit off the shelf.
It’s a lot of fun in a very small box – LOL.

Here’s another small update:

Finished gun except for pivot point covers (marked in red) can’t glue them till I get vehicle positioned on dio. Also drilled out breech and slide (red arrows).

Interior 99% done. Added antiskid plate, ammo stowage, controls, vision blocks, etc…
Blue mask is glue locations for seats, gun, etc…
Almost ready to prime and paint!

Front deck and interior.

Tools – kit had nothing.

Figures (my 1st braille) – kit on left & my mod on right.

My 1st mold – WooHoo! For spare tyre.

You obviously have too much time on your hands! This kit was the source for my first ever kitbash. I crossed it with the Matchbox Puma. Great job on the scratch building it looks very good. I hope you know that you can get this kit in 1/72 from both Roden and Italeri. More power to you.

Thanks Dave and Sonny. I'm really enjoying this.

Interior finished, painted and weathered.

Painting the radio and driver’s instrument panel were a pain..

Few more detail shots:

Figure done, just have to decide on uniform style and paint.

Wow, what a fantastic job. What great detail!

I'm working on the same car, same manufacturer, same scale, different kit though. You have more work on yours I know what you mean about slow going....took me one whole evening just to prep and bore the pak barrel. It had a nasty void near the breach.

I have to ask...what are you using for reference? I have yet to fine a good photo of the interior. Exterior hasn't been to hard to find (though i think all the ones I've seen are of the same vehicle.)

Again, great job and thanks for sharing.

EDIT: My kit is Roden

Excellent job on a very old and under detailed kit that I remember building 20+ years ago.

Looking real nice! You're putting a lot of work into this one, and on such a small scale too! Nicely done!

Didn't see this posting the first time around, so apologies for not replying. Try to take a look at most of them, just to see what folks are up to.

Thanks for sharing! Cheers -

Hey Guys,

Thanks for the feedback.

Jack - for references I am using:
Wydawnictwo Militaria #41 Samochody Pancerne 8x8
Ground Power 7, July 2000
Panzer Tracts #13, Jentz and Doyle
Kagero #20 – Sd.Kfz 234
Squadron/Signal – Panzerspahwagen in Action

Finally making some progress on kit and base. Few more photos.

Hold down bolts on jack and jerry can holder were a pain.

The base:

And in primer - almost ready to paint.

The crew - one more to build. My 1st Braille figure scratch build (the primer / preshaded one) SS w/M42 smock (Autumn OakLeaf B). Hands, head, collar and smock ties another real pain.

Thanks for looking - more to come.

Your whole project is great (sorry about the pun... ) but your figure conversions are the icing on the cake. Very much looking forward to see this on the base.

Man - this makes me want to break out some braille scale stuff and go from 'time filler' builds to 'all out builds'.

Very good detail work. Love that you're putting in a diorama too.

Amazing, I don't know how you can do such work. For me this would be like someone telling me to build the Eiffel tower in my backyard. I am in awe of practically everything on this website.
