Here are some photos of my current project. This is a Russian T-72M2 taking part in the fighting in Grozny, Chechnya in February 1995. The tank is a Revell T-72M1 with a Modelltrans resin T-72M2 turret. I also used photo etched details from Extratech and Stransky. The tow cables are Eureka XXL. My knowledge of Russian armor and photo sources were rather limited so there are some inaccuracies that Soviet/Russian armor experts will notice, but I think it's a good representation. Referencing a few photos, I tried to damage the skirts in a realistic way considering the real ones are a hardened rubber material. I wanted the tank to look well used. This will be part of a diorama with a hand full or Russian infantry from this figure set http://plasticsoldierreview.com/Review.asp?manu=ORI&code=72003 and surrounded by piles of rubble and a ruined building.

Erik,
I also do not know that much about these Russian vehicles but yours sure looks the part and very interesting too! I like it! You sure have put in some work already from the looks of the fenders, photo-ectched parts and resin turret. Keep going. I also like how you've deleted the front fenders.
Keep us posted on your progress if you can.

Erik,
Nice work, especially for 1/72. It looks very nice.
One thing: there is no such beastie as a T-72M2. T-72M2 is a made up name for what was to be the export version of the T-72B...this ended up being named the T-72S instead. (I do not know why.). Also, the Russians only used T-72B models in Chechnya, not the few T-72S's they have. So there is your trivia.

I don't have photos, but I just clear coated the tank ,after painting and decaling, and am now ready to start weathering. Thanks for the info Jacques. I really don't know much about Russian/Soviet tanks and the info out there is all over the board as to what's what. The resin turret was labeled T-72M2 but when looking at the T-72 page on Wikipedia.org it shows up as a T-72B. I agree though, after reading Jacques post it seems like the knowledgeable consensus is it's a T-72B.
My excuse is I'm a model railroader who builds occasional armor models (this is my 3rd)

Well what ever marque it is meant to be, it does look very good indeed. Looking forward to seeing some paint on it.
Cheers
