I'm currently working on a figure for my Panzer IV Ausf D. The figure will be from the early part of the war in Poland. From reference photos I have seen, the whole part of the uniform is black, with the exception of a pink outline on the shoulder boards and collar. I need to know the colors of the wires of the tank's intercom system going to head phones on the figure. Also in some of the photos, the belt on some of the tankers is brown. Is this correct?

Hello Lee,
Brown belts were worn by officers, The head phone wiring is a red brown color. There are some images on a goggle search.

On the beginning of war also some other troops (nod only officers) had brown belts. For panzer crew I'd stick to the black.
Wiring was red-brown or black - depending on used isolating material.

Those would have been senior NCO's. It was quite common to see the older (was it the M37 designation? sorry, ref material isn't close) brown belt worn throughout the war despite instructions for officers not to wear it.
As Andrzej says, you'd be safer going with a generic black belt in the case of Panzertruppen.

I appreciate the info. The figure is from the Tamiya Panzer IV Ausf D kit. I have decided to paint the uniform Model Master Aircraft Interior Black because when it dries, it has a real good flat finish. I used Testors Flat Black for the wiiring and the boots as when it dries, it has a sort of sheen to it that is distinguishable from the other shade of black. I just got back into modeling and I know the professional modelers and "color police" of the forums would have a field day with my color selections. I depend on these forums to get ideas on how to approach doing certain things in a kit.
