Hello,
I have found this photo of a Gun Truck in Iraq, and wonder if anyone could offer any better pictures of the ring mount set up. I want to build a similar type vehicle mounting a minigun.
Any info would be greatly appreciated.
Regards
Toby

Sorry, can't help you out . Just can confirm that there seem to be two types of MG ring mounts for the M900-series of trucks. One older style with three attachment points, and one newer (Humvee style?) with four attachment points. I would also appreciate good reference photos of the newer style.

It looks to me like a standard .50 cal. ring mount on an old 5 ton (dump truck?) from the Vietnam era.
I'll see if I can find some pics for you.
Updated: definitely not a dump truck....the foreshortening of the pic fooled my old eyes for a minute. It could be a deuce adn a half, but probably an M-54 5 ton.
Semper Fi,
Dave

It is. Definitely not a job for someone who worries about dying a lot. Helmet, flak jacket and steel balls!!!

That's not a dump. Stake sided-low bed with a drop gate. Probably a M35 Series.

It’s a pretty standard M-923/925 truck from what I make of it. Here’s what I see…
Blue….are the wooden sides.
Red…the tire hand crane.
Yellow…Air Cleaner Intake Pipe
Green…the guns mount. There are four (4) mounts, two (2) in the front window corners and two (2) in the rear bed corners. Then from there you’ll need to rig up some brackets to the parts to center the ring. Only thing is that the kit only comes with three (3) ring mounts. You’ll either have to make on ot see if anyone has an extra.

I got the impression that the ring with four mounting points is of a newer type. Like the ones I found digging in my archive:

It looks like the newer HMMWV ring-mount to me, as zapper has in his gallery.

Ok then this is what I was taking about in yellow...
As for standard the truck is, nothing special other than the ring mount...newer ring mount.

Gino - thanks for posting the photos that you did - I've not seen the mount like that up-close before. It gives me things to ponder for modeling...

Hi Joe. What you have circled is the air intake for the air filter under the driver's side of the cab.
