What do US modern AFV's (Bradley, m113) look like before painting? In other words, what is under the top coat of desert paint (Primer maybe)?

My last trip through the Bradley/M113/Paladin/M88A2/AAV7A1 plant is that the base vehicle was an aluminum color that was dipped in a zinc bath. It gave the base vehicle a lime green coating. Other items like stowage boxes, fenders, othe items made of steel were prepainted either green or sand colored by the subcontractor that manufactured those components.
Some components came off of vehicles that were sent back for rebuild. You could also see stowage boxes on the back of Bradley hulls from older vehicles that still had unit markings on them.
It made for some interesting looking vehicles.
