Looks like you've got a good start there Dave, nice clean build. Did notice one thing, looks like you've got a gap on the last picture, where the upper and lower hull meet. Maybe you've just not glued them together yet, just dry-fit them for now.

Keep at it, thanks for sharing. Cheers -

I agree with Tim. But, do you have photo's of the original vehicle? Never heard of this one.

Looks good so far David. Are you going to paint a solid color or create a camo?

I only found out a few months ago that this little known Jagdpanzer was the first version made with it's smooth corners on the front.

Was this one of the III/IV hybrids or the genuine IV chassis? The rear hull looks like the hybrid model but with a lower superstructure.

Hey Jason,
The A-0 was the pre-production series of prototypes for the Jagdpanzer IV and was built on the standard Panzer IV chassis by Volmag.
The rounded corners of the superstructure were dropped before full scale manufacture began to simplify production and improve the ballistic shape of the vehicle.

I got one when it was released, great little kit! It should have the rubber rimmed return rollers though and (most likely) zimmerit.

My LHS has the Tamiya Jagdpanzer IV.
Found two DML 9059 on ebay to "buy now" for 33.00 and 25.20.

Geraint,
A mild steel test vehicle was presented before Herr Hitler in October 1943 and the final prototypes were ready by December 1943.
IIRC, application of zimmerit started in September 1943 and I've seen a series of photos of one of the A-0 series covered with it.

Jonathan,
Tamiya's Jagdpanzer IV is ancient and Italeri produced a Jagdpanzer IV but it's OOP.
Dragon's more recent Jagdpanzer IV L/48 Early #9021 and Jagdpanzer IV L/70 Command version #9043 are a bit more accurate.
Cheers

your'e right about the return rollers may have to change that. also a problem with the style of tracks used , hollow or solid guides. also a ? about the illuminated rear tailight, boxed with fipped up gate or late style tubular or none at all. the german war machine had numerous variations and you never know about what field modifications were incorperated due to the short supplies of spare parts. im tempted to mix it up with a couple of steel wheels and maybe a couple of rubber return rollers.also the wheel caps are wrong but then again what kind of refitting was used durring war time. there are so many what if's.

Hey Dave,
I would stick with the 4 return rollers as the A-0 series of vehicles were built in 1943.
Can't find anything on the numbers built but it couldn't have been too many.
Vomag started building the "Guderian Duck's", the Panzer IV/70 (V) with the long gun, in August 1944 with 4 rollers.
The later model hulls with 3 return rollers and steel forward road wheels was introduced much later.
You could certainly assume that early style tracks and other retro parts could be found on an "old warrior" that's survived the battles in 1944-45.
Cheers

Hey Dave,
Thanks for the info !!
Wasn't aware that there was one still around as I've only seen wartime photos.
Nice to see one of these prototypes "in the flesh" so to speak !!!
