Sup fellas, been a while since I posted in here.
Anyway Im looking for a M60A2 in 1/35.I dont know much about the M60 series but I do know that Revell Germany makes a A3 and all it is is a A2 but with the mods that came with the A2 are standard on the A3.(Am I right Sabot? )
The reason Im wanting to get one is that I have been wanting to buy a M60 to supplement my armour collection but also since my dad was a M60 commander back in the day with the 3rd ACR.

Incorrect. The M60A2 is the one variant of the M60 series that does not look like any other.
The M60 has a small turtle-shaped turret with 105mm main gun, but still looks like an M60 tank. Turret closely resembles the the M48 turret.
The M60A1 and variants like AOS, RISE/Passive has a larger angular turret with the same 105mm main gun. Later USMC variants had ERA armor added.
The M60A2 has a funky narrow turret with short barreled 152mm gun/launcher that fired the Shillelagh guided missile. Turret had the commander's .50 cal cupola centered and to the rear of the turret. Both the loader and the gunner had symmetrical hatches to the right and left of the turret. M60A2 was a failed design and did not remain in service for very long.
The M60A3 and M60A3TTS have basically the same turret as the M60A1. It takes a trained eye to readily distinguish an A3 from a late A1.
The new Revell of Germany M60A3 is the old Esci M60A3TTS kit (#5040) released in April 1990 (date printed on my kit decals). Italeri recently released the M60A1 which was also an ex-Esci kit, and virtually identical to the Esci M60A3TTS kit except for a few A3/A1 parts like the gun tube (A3 has a thermal shroud), armored LRF blister, crosswind sensor. The M60A1 kit includes side loading air cleaners as well.
These two kits also share about 95% of the parts as the recently released Italeri Israeli M60 Blazer. They are the best M60 series kits on the market and I intend to use the hulls of the Esci/AMT/Italeri/Revell of Germany to make an M60 and M60A2 using the CMD M60 turret and the Tamiya M60A2 turret respectively.

No, you can make a decent M60A2 with the Tamiya M60A2 kit. It was recently reissued. I did have an extra, but traded it off to someone. AEF Designs makes and M60A2 turret, but someone on this group (Lance?) says that it is not very well done. He offered it to me for postage alone, but I declined. Figured I'd just use the Tamiya turret.
I just think the Esci hull is better than the Tamiya hull, that's why I plan to kitbash.

Zach. the A-2 was one bizzarre looking tank. It packed a 152 short barrelled gun that fired the Shileighly missle. It was a maintenance nightmare and the TOW was a far superior wire guided system. How ever in the schem of things, it is part of the M-60 class of tanks. The kit as Rob says ain't so hot. Eduard put out a small PE set for it I think wasy back when, but I believe that is OOP. You can still find original A-1 kits out there. Lot's of A-3's. I wish someone would come up with just an M-60 and I'm dying for an AVLB (I'ld even take this on a M-48 chassis). I don't know if they did a dozer or not. I know they have made some resin aftermarkets but those can be price prohibitive. So the Starship still lives.

Zach.
I was a gunner on an M-60A2 in Germany. My unit traded in M-60's and A1's.I am buiding an A2 for the Cold War Cook Off.
go to the campaign sections, and find TankCarls section.I am ready to paint my hull, there are many mods to do to the Tamiya kit to make it look right.
If you havent started any construction yet,E mail me off board ([email protected]) and I will list the simple modeling fixes to make the Tamiya kit accurate.
Most of the work is good modeling, there are several fixes to the very rear and those aircleaners to make a "production "
vehicle.
I think Tamiya saw a prototype, and botched the aircleaners and rear hull bulge.
