Hi all,
Maybe you could help me with this: I am certain I had a picture of a M109 howitzer in Vietnam that had a Batman graffiti on its turret. I can’t find it anymore so I guess I lost it with the last hard-disk-crash. Does someone know wich one I mean and is willing to share the picture with me?
The reason I’m asking is; I’m working on a decalsheet with all sorts of (US) vehicle graffiti and I’d like to include the Batman aswell.
I have already several graffitis done but if someone has some suggestions for this decalsheet; they’re very welcome!
thanks in advance!
best regards,
Mark Meuleman

Have photos of M706s with Thor and Captain America and Verlinden had Flash dry transfers for their 706 but I haven't seen Batman on a 706 or M109.
Can't wait to see what you come out with.
BTW, the VC figs look interesting.

Thanks for your help guys! Really appreciate it!
I have to be more specific: it wasn’t the Batman himself but the Batman logo that was on the M109’s turret.
I found the picture on the internet, years ago but I’m afraid it will be hard to find it again. Anyway the Thor and Captain America graffitis sound great! Any chance you could share the pictures with me? The Flash decal for the M706 doesn’t ring a bell actually, what did it look like?
I will be doing a decalsheet with different graffiti style decals for various US vehicles in Vietnam service. I think I’ll do a sheet for different vehicles in one (I mean 1 sheet with M113, LVTP, M109, V100 etc decals) or is it better to do separate sheets for M113, LVTP, M109, V100 etc what do you think?
I plan to have the VC figures available somewhere next month, unfortunately I can’t be more specific at this moment .
Best regards
Mark

Mark - this sounds really interesting - I'm tired of seeing the same old slogans and graffiti on tanks and apc's...
Maybe it would be a good idea to include (or even do a separate sheet) all the Vietnam era stencils - for ammo cans, interior placards (Danger - Monoxide gas! - from inside the M113), generic letters and numbers, that sort of thing? I know Archer does some WW2 stuff, but there's nothing (apart from guntrucks) from the Vietnam war era...
Just a thought.
BTW, when are you likely to have more instant Jungle? I'll order 2 more straight away!

here's a thought to ponder
Normally (but once again not always) when a piece was named (tank, howitzer or whatever) you could take the very first letter of the name and it would be the letter of the company with which it was in. An example is the M551 named "Body Count." This track was from B Troop, 1st of the 1st Armored CAV. The piece I was on was first called "bad news", and was later called "beechwood 4-5789", and still later called "big boy pete." I was of course in Bravo Company. Also the guys liked to use names that were sorta catchy as in a song or maybe a cartoon character (we used Yosemite Sam but renamed him).
So when doing the "batman" search you might want to be company specific. It does seem like I remember seeing a black bat at onetime or another on the side of an M109. I think I'd do a search in the 3rd of the 18th Arty for a start (only one I was ever around that used M109's [actually used M107's and M110's too])

I`d like to see the M109 named "Bullwinkle", pictured in Osprey`s book on the M109 series. And I have seen one picture of a M109 named "Horney lady" in bright red on a black painted barrell - really badass look.
To offer a great variety I think you could do separate decal sheet for the V100, for APCs, for SPHs,...
Generic numbers and letters would be great! Maybe some red crosses for M113 and M577?
