Hi all,

Im looking to build a M4 with deep wading trunks, and was wondering if anybody had dimentions, drawings, etc of the trunks. Or, is there some aftermarket (tankworkshop, Eduard, etc) that has wading trunks for a radial engined sherman?

Thanks!

There was more than one design depending on time period and theater of operation. There is a template for making the early style deep wading trunks used on M4 and M4A1 Shermans in the Sicily invasion (and presumably the Salerno landings as well) in Steve Zaloga's book, "Modelling the US Army M4 (75mm) Sherman Medium Tank" published by Osprey (there is also a companion volume on the 76 mm variants, so be sure to order the right one). It's available from Amazon at a discount.
The Tank Workshop also has a set of resin deep wading stacks for later operations (Operations Overlord and Dragoon).

I've used the TWD stuff, its pretty good. Tankograds file on the M4 has a very good section on the deep wading installation which i highly recommend, as it shows not only the trunks and the wiring of them, but also the other waterproofing that was done.
