That´s great Charles I like it a lot .Who makes the figures?
Posted: Tuesday, November 04, 2008 - 07:00 AM UTC
Thanks Mike.
I'm almost embarrassed to say that I have no idea who makes the figures or where I got them. They've been in the stash box for years. Perhaps someone else will recognize them? There was a third child balancing (on a gun tube) in shorts with his legs spread to the sides.
Cheers,
Charles

Looks really good, but the head on the standing kid is way too big. Looks like it was replaced at some point with a head from a larger scale.

Hi Charles, a lovely scene, I think that you capture perfectly the playground that most of people of my age was in is childhood: a dereligh, rusted machine sorrounded with grass: car, truck, tractor, etc...
congratulations

Thanks everyone for the positive comments.
Al,
I agree the head looks large but looking at some photos of the original kit, that's the head for that body! (at the link Scott provided you can see the same figure/head ) It may be the angle in the photo also that makes it look 'really' over-sized.
Carlos,
hello my friend, thanks, I was trying for the bucolic 'scene from childhood' feeling.
Scott,
Funny you should mention "no girls allowed" as that was one of the things I was thinking about.
I tentatively have named the piece "The Clubhouse" so I was planning on some sort of signage.
Cheers,
Charles

Very Nice. I like the way you have blended the rust on the car. The Kids are excellent.

Well done Charles! Great athmosphere in there.
On a sewcond look, i may have one comment. What time of the year is your dio set.
As there are no more leaves on the tree (all on the ground) but the boys are in T-Shirt i'm not sure which season it is.
If it is a late sunny fall day, explaining a bit the setting, maybe you can colour your grass a bit to autumn colours?
Can you give us some inside about your rusting method?
Cheers
Claude

Great scene! the American equivalent to your tchernobyl scene maybe?
take care with those ready made Heki (?) grass tufts, their colour is too uniform, try to add some yellow or clearer bits.
Are they looking at something? no need really, there is a dreamy feeling about the whole, by seeing them staring blankly with nothing to do. the real spirit of youth and boredom when the weather is hot and buggy!

This is wonderfull one! I really love the paintjob and weatherign technics.
Don't worry about kid's head - it is just a skinny boy with big head - this disproportion is common for small kids.

Looks great! The old car appears to have been there a long time, have to agree with the folks above, perfect place for a "No Girls Allowed" sign. Nicely done, thanks for sharing.
