A few questions.
I'm going to build a M151 CROWS II for an M1A2 TUSK equipped vehicle. I have found a couple of pictures of the new CROWS II with the larger .50 cal ammo box with flex ammunition feed, but there seems to be a new "Thermal Sight?" mounted above the main camera, installed where on the older M151 Protector has a space for a future upgrade?.
1. Is the upgraded sight from the Block I and Block II upgrades?
2. Does anyone have any pictures of the upgrade RWS with this camera mounted?
3. Does anyone make the spent casings baskets for the RWS?
4. Where do the wires go within the RWS from the sights and camera?
Here is a picture of the new M151 CROWS II

Thank you.

Maybe so today, but I'm guessing this will be added in during the next round of TUSK upgrades/improvements. There was a successful test 3 years ago with the original Recon Optical Inc CROWS RWS on a couple of M1A2's. This is the basis for this addition. It does seem like the logical next addition.
The best way to protect a crew member from harm is to keep them inside the vehicle when they do not need to be outside of it.
Thank you.

Is the current thinking that an exposed but protected gun position (like the one shown) is better than some form of RWS? If so, why? Cost? or situational awareness?

Gary,
I know that the CROWS (A2SEP only) addition ot the TUSK was either with the Block II or IIA fielding... I seem to remember (got the pics at home, so I will update this posting) that the original CROWS was used. The Block II ARAT fielding might push back the fitting of the CROWS for the A2SEPs. I do remember that the Konigsburg RWS was dropped as it was too heavy/weighed too much and where to position the CROWS/RWS on the turret was an additional issue. Post some pics of what you are building... It might spur me to start my M1A2SEP.

does anyone know what the scallop shaped plates are on the side of the M1A2 pictured above? I have only seen the flat sided reactive armor plates.

The new explosive reactive armor tiles. I'm not sure why they are convex shaped.

The M151E1 (Block I Upgrade) has the following according to my notes: improved optics, ammo capacity, and user controls.
The M151E2 (Block II Upgrade) has the following according to my notes: improves engagement capabilities include skew rate and on the move capability.
This might have changed since I last payed attention to it.

It's a quick concealment device. You just have to plant some flowers in there and your tank looks like an innoncent bunch of flowers

Do you have any pictures you can share? I'm looking for pictues of it from the sides and rear. And how the ammo bin attaches to the side would be nice as well.
