I've got an M1A2 tank and a M966 Tow Missle Carrier, although on the box art they are in camo patterns, I would like to paint them that light brown/beige colour that you see in Iraq.
I went to the local hobby store and there were two paints that looked similar, one was called Buff and the other was Marine Army armor sand..or something like that. Would either of these be the colour, or should I be asking them to order in something else if possible?
Thanks.

I was in the '90/'91 Gulf War and I have based my "sand" color on what we had.
I have had good luck with Tamiya Light Sand; although, it is a spray. After darkening it up with a wash* and weathering it, it comes out pretty good.
* For washes I have used Games Workshop Gryphonne Sepia, oil washes with Burnt Sienna and Raw Umber, and 502 Abteilung Wash Brown.

An almost perfect match for modern CARC Sand is Testors Model Master Sand, FS33531. The Army/Marine Gulf Sand is based off a local Saudi paint color used to quickly repaint vehicles when they arrived. It is darker than what is used now.
