Does anyone out there know what the purpose of the foldout wings on turret of Tamiyas Leopard serve? What are they called and what is their function? I have looked at some pics on the net and they don't show they Leopards with the wings out?

It includes the deep fording utilities and it is simply called "Zusatzpanzerung" (additonal armor).

They fold out because it's the only way for the engine pack to be pulled when the turret is in the 3 or 9 oclock position.
