Hey Everyone
I started building an Aussie Abrams using the Dragon M1A2 SEP kit and Mouse House M1A1 Aussie Abrams conversion set. I have full intentions to post my build pictures for all to see but before I get there I have two questions for those people in the know (Any Aussies out there??)
1. OK... From the information I've gathered the Aussie M1A1 Abrams had the two piece air intake screen. Since there are 5-6 engine deck screens (depending on which version) I have no idea which of the screens are the air intake. My best guess would be the ones on the rear left of the tank. For those who have the Dragon SEP kit I'm referring to Step 4 option T5 vs T6 in the instruction sheets. Am I correct??
2. Now because the Aussies have installed a cooler in the turret basket it blocks the cross wind sensor mount/bracket for when it's in the stowed position. The Mouse House instructions say to modify the part (Part O12)and mount it to the top of the turret. I know the placement but I have one reference photo and it looks nothing like that part modified. Does anyone have any reference photos of this part? I'd post my reference photo but I have no idea how to do it... I'll try and figure it out.
This is a really fun build and I'll be ready to post some pictures of my build once I've received some clarity in respect to my questions. Can anyone help me out?? Cheers!!!
Carmen

This is the link of the photo I have of the rear of an Aussie M1A1 Abrams turret with the part I have a question about.
If the link doesn't work let me know and I'll try something else. Cheers!!

G'day Carmen,
I mastered the original so I suppose I'm the best one to answer you.
1. T6 is the go mate.
2. Basiclly just add a small curved strap to the top of the part the same shape as the wind sensor, then a strap to hold it.
Hope this helps.
Cheers Jason Miller

Thanks Jason!! Absolutely great work on the conversion! And the instruction are so clear I find myself NOT banging my head off the wall for a change.
Anyways since I've somewhat got you on the line I have another follow up question, which coincidentally I can use the same photo I've posted above.
Directly in front of the loader's hatch latch located on the right blow off panel is the armoured power conduit that runs to the EAPU and the smoke grenade launcher, etc. On the top of the armoured power conduit you can clearly see a rectangular shaped panel just in front of the latch and to the left of the indent in the conduit. In the Dragon SEP instructions it specifies using parts Q8 & Q5 but judging by the photos I think I'm suppose to use part Q11. Am I correct?? There was no mention of this in the MH instructions.
Also since the panaramic site is not located on the M1A1 in the Dragon Instructions there's another power conduit (part X6) in the Dragon instructions, I again assume I'm not suppose to use this part as well.
These two things are a bit obvious but I wanted to make sure and perhaps provide some feedback to improve upon the MH conversion instructions.
Cheers!!

Thanks for the positive remarks Carmen. It is much appreciated.
You are spot on mate. X6 is not used and Q11 should be used in place of Q5 and Q8.
The instructions have now been amended.
I think I now know what has happened. You know how it is. You work on something night and day and Murphy’s Law dictates something will be missed or confused with something else. In this case I when I was writing up the instructions I seem to have confused the AIM instructions with the SEP instructions at some stage.
If there is anything else please let me know.
Cheers Jason
