Hi Dmitry,

Nice build, just started with the kit only recent. Good to know what's wrong with the kit so that I can fix it (looks simple enough).

Btw, do I detect faint seam marks on your "U" brackets? Better get rid of it before moving further...

The engine deck problem - I think I'll carve out the wrong areas carefully and add a thin strip of plastic to simulate that plate. I've already have the left and right lourves attached before reading your post, so to do a surgery like yours I'd end up with a massacre on the kit.

Which NATO Green did you use? Gunze's?

Cheers,

Lawrence

Thank you Scott, Are you done with your JS-2? I have to pick that back up soon as well.

Hi Lawrence, I did see those nasty little seams. Will have to fix.
The paint is Tamiya NATO Green acrylic color mixed with a few drops of Tamiya Clear Gloss for shine and thinned with Tamiya lacquour thinner. I find this to be a very easy combo to work with. For a base coat, almost anything would work though...

Maybe more tonight if I get the time...

OK, some shading and highlights with NATO green mixed with black and then flat yellow. Very subtle change, but lighter overall.

Excellent SBS build and photographic lighting tutorial. Your attention to detail, backed up by the 1:1 examples really give depth to this blog, and I have thoroughly enjoyed following it.

Hi Dmitry. Looking great so far. Great coverage and notes throughout, which is very helpful for anybody building this model. Enjoyed the build very much.

Dmitry,
Looking good - I think youve bought about all the T34 AM stuff you could find. THose Miniarm T34 turrets look outstanding.

Can't wait to see it marked and weathered.

I always like your Builds Dmitry as to all the extra time invested in the display of parts and what is available to use to make a model even better.

Good job Mate.
Nice choice of green for a start also.

Nice job, man. Is the tarp on the side scratch-built or AM resin? Looks very realistic. I must get some worn wheels for my upcoming 1941 model.

Thanks Scott.
I am a little stuck as my finish is starting to look much like the model I made 2-3 years ago which is not good.
I tried something new here. Any thought? This is all acrylic washes. Ignore the the brown stain, that is a failed oil spot....

Thanks for looking, Dmitry

Hi Dmitry, I've switched to acrylic washes for my dusting effects quite a while ago and I like the results. A little alcohol on a q-tip will remove excess and I don't have to worry about the kids getting into chemicals left on my bench
I used all acrylics for my Iwo Jima sherman build and I think that came out real well.
Love your article and it really helps point out problems with the kits. Also, my opinion is the Armorscale wheels look the best.
Best regards, Ed
