Aaaaagh!

Yes, you're correct, they have numbered the muzzle brakes the wrong way around in the instruction sheet, and yes it does affect the optional parts list! Most of the options should have the small muzzle brake!

Here's a page about it.
http://tiger1.info/EN/DragonMuzzleBrakes.html

I'm mailing Dragon right now about this. I should have seen it myself. Thank you!

Hi David

Thanks for the heads-up. Luckily in my case, thanks to a deluge of new aircraft kit samples, I haven't had a chance to make any more progress on the Tiger yet, so I can do a swift re-think on which colour scheme to go for.

All the best

I'm building the kit myself, and I noticed an error. Part D2, the mantlet, is supposed to have one hole to the right of the barrel, but it is done with two. These holes are for the gunner's sight. Early models used a binocular sight, with two holes, later models used a simpler monocular sight with one hole. The instructions tell us to open the hole on the right if we are building the tank from Italy, but it's already open. If you aren't building the Italian front tank, fill the hole on the right and replace the zimmerit pattern.

Hope I helped, and I hope this was coherent!

Hi there, I think that we can shuffle in a 'binocular gunsight mantlet' if you can find enough references. David highlighted the complexities of this 'production' period of the Tiger1 over on Missing-Lynx,
http://www.network54.com/Forum/47207/message/1229642323/Wittmanns+Tiger
as the s.SS.Pz.-Abt.101 had a few 'lates' with the 'binocular' apertures and other earlier features fitted to a 'late' turret or hull. If memory serves me correctly this can also be said of the s.Pz.-Abt.503 and s.SS.Pz.-Abt.102 in Normandy, whose combined vehicle inventory possibly span the complete production period of the 'Late' Tiger 1. It would have been a nice touch to include the earlier flat front hull side plate ends, then we would be covered almost with all options to depict on a late.

Regards Phil.

Phil, that photo shows a Tiger with a 25mm roof, i.e. too early for this kit.
I wrote this kit's option lists myself and I think I've selected the correct mantlet options, based on the photos I could find.

Yeah! Sorry David, just a bit of eye candy to go with the thread, didn't mean to confuse matters , with any anomalies .

Regards Phil.

I have this kit in my stash and am watching this build with great intrest. My question is this. The two little holes on the barrel "sleeve" do they actually go like that or are they supposed to be pointing down. I thought they were like drain holes or screw holes or something like that and they are pointed straight down.

Great to see the Tiger 1 with zimmerit....................not so great to see the lack of Magictracks - for those of us that don't like those unrealistic Dragon styrene bands.

Hi Rowan, interestingly, I am making this tiger as well! I glued the idle wheel... and then realize I'd better leave it... too late and wish me luck.. Anyway I don't quite like the DS track, perhaps I will find a spare plastic track.

There are so many part on the upper hull! It seems that decisions have to be made: plastic or PE?!

All the best,

Leon
