Hi Thord,

Tack, Hej Da!

Do you have any idea where I can buy the HKCW conversion?

I think that the HobbyBoss kit is a decent start considering price and availability. I'm going to tackle the Danish 2A5 DK kit and it shares that same nose armor parts. I'll let you know how it goes. I'll start with sanding down the thick anti-skid.

The HKCW conversion looks nice but the build wasn't without some issues.

Paul

You are doing the 2A5DK? Good luck, let me know how it goes! When you are done, put some pictures up! Have fun building.

Hi,

I am quite new to the site, can someone tell me what the ArmoramA campaigns are alll about? I had signed up to the Viking campaign, the thing about the scandinavian stuff interests me.

Tack sa mycket!

Campaigns are a theme build done under some time constraints and people are to post up their progress and completed results. There have been builds for shermans, big cats (ie. tigers, panthers, leopards, etc) and all sorts of other topics. The campaigns area should have lots more info for you.

I agree, the HKCW Conversion is NOT to be found anywhere !

Guess what, I got a HKCW resin Stridsvagn 122 1/35th scale conversion kit with the Tamiya kit included from a private reseller! I am going to do it for the viking build!

Any ideas what paint job I should use? I have decals for the Boden and Skovde regiments!

It came from Sweden!

Thord,

Does it snow in summer in boden?

I really don't know. I am building a Woodland splinter I19 tank form Boden. Should I weather in snow or mud?

Is this a silly question?

Thanks

A little bit off-topic but I thought I might chip in as I did my military service 85-86 at a Regiment in conjuction with P5 Boden.

When we arrived in late August, there was a big pile of gravel that had was the leftover from previous year snowplowing. When kicking in the gravel we found out that there were still snow remaining inside the pile.

To be honest the gravel also insulated the snow and kept it from melting.

Not serving with AFV´s, this goes for soft-skins but I wouldnt be surprised if this also was common for tankers? In my days the four tone splinger camo was used with light green and tan being overpainted with white chalk-like colour. All around. No anti-slip were even heard of.
The pattern were drawn with chalk freehanden by us conscripts ourselves. Thus varying a bit in quality even if there was a slight qualitycontrol by our officers.

Cheers

Summer: Dust and/or mud. We have plenty of muddy spots in Sweden and dry mud -> dust.
Winter: Snow and/or mud. If it is minus 30 centigrade the mud is hard as rock, if it is just one or two degrees below the freezing point then the tanks can churn up mud. It can be
a frozen surface on the ground but a quarter of an inch below the surface there can still be wet mud. A couple of vehicles going down a path/track will turn it into mud with nice white
snow a few yards to either side. Mud and snow do go together to create misery for the soldier.

Hi,

so I mud up the tank and then dust it? I have a Tamiya tank weathering set with dust in it. I will have a look around for a MiG pigment too. Do the tracks have rust on them, I saw Anders Isaksson's model, he said on the AFV modeller magazine that featured it.

Tack sa mycket!

All tank tracks get rusty when tha tanks been sitting for a couple of days but most is worn of within a couples of miles in terrain.
In winter the snow does a really good job to polish the tracks shiny so I wouldn't put too much rust on them.
Especially the surfaces where the road wheels go on the tracks and the sides of the guide horns are often polished shiny, especially in winter.

Update:

I have decided I will use XF-11 J.A. green with a mix of XF-2 to make it a slight bit lighter.
This will be used for the medium green.
