I've got a Bradley kit I want to do as a scout vehicle for a headquarters company at Ft. Hood in '87-88. Would this be an M3 "A0" or an A1 version?

Thanks,
Paul

I don't know if this helps, but I was at Ft Stewart in '87 when we went from M113s to Brads and we got M2A1s. I think you'd be good with either version.

Our scout platoon had A1s before going to the M1025/1026 HMMWV formation. I think the main difference visually is the absence of the firing port blisters and I believe the reconfigured TOW loader's hatch.

The M3A1 also had no side firing ports. The holes should be filled in and smoothed over.

So, putting all the above posts together, the basic changes for an M3A1 would be the A2 bustle rack, filled in side firing ports, and roof hatch with periscopes repositioned onto the hatch and the rear roof periscope positions filled in.

I did one a while ago, you can check it out here.

I've still got some M3 shots hidden on site. They may be of assistance, you will be able to see where you need to update the kit to make an A1. https://armorama.kitmaker.net/modules/gallery/albums/albuu28/

There are some good detail shots on there, but that's not an A1. It's an A0.

That's why I say they are "M3" (vs. M3A1) and that they may be of assistance...

Most of my shots were taken because they are areas where an M3 differs from an M3A1.
