Hi Petros
Firstly let me say that the layout looks the part, and that we need more Brit/Commonwealth scenes like these
I like the flow of the figures cautiously advancing on different levels. Thought needs to go into where the figures are approaching though, and how the Firefly integrates into this? As it stands the Firefly is entering what appears to be a town square or similar and is exposed, whereas the soldiers are still making their way past the tank and should have had the area cleared? Just a thought mate!
There would also be copious amounts of rubble, pouring out onto the streets.
What are your plans for the curbing? This would dictate where the cobblestones would be needed.
Speaking of which, I reckon you should use thicker chunks of cork, and have more a square shape. The depth won't matter too much as it can be filled, whereas yours would leave little margin for error due to their shallow depth.
Good stuff, and I'll certainly be following your progress
Cheers
Brad

Nice layout and placement of the buildings. Figure poses are also well done.
Personally I would move the Firefly forward slightly and perhaps turn the turret so the barrel is aiming down one of the streets.
I'm looking forward to more progress,
Chas

Hi Petros - a couple of points about the Firefly: it shouldn't have a hull machine gun mounted (the hull gunner was replaced by ammunition stowage) and it needs another aerial mounted on the conical base in the well behind the loader's hatch. That aerial should be the long one (the real one came in 1.2m long sections), while the aerial you have already fitted was only 0.5m long in real life.

This looks like it will be a very good, and pleasingly busy (read close pack and full of rubble ) diorama, and I agree that the initial layout of the figures gives a good 'flow'. There is however one fly in the ointment, the buildings are very close together, which makes this more of a alley way setting, rather than a (town) square. The rubble from the buildings will literally fill the space between the buildings, and would be an extremely hazardous place for any tank, let alone the Firefly. It's long barrel means it can't traverse in between the buildings.
Perhaps bring the Firefly forward, and turn it, so that it looks like it approached from the 'front' of the scene. It can point the barrel tentatively into one of the alley ways... the infantry can likewise approach from the viewers view point, and cautiously move 'into' the scene, checking out the ruins for snipers or boobytraps.
This layout will give the viewer a sense of being part of the advancing party, and will add a dramatic sense to the diorama. I think...
I m looking forward to your progress on this one at any rate Petros, please keep the pictures coming.

Hi Petros.
I like the new layout, but you need to turn the turret so it faces down the alley. This will give the scene a better storyline in my opinion.
Other than that, I'd recommend you move the whole tank to the right so it doesn't overhang off the diorama.
Good work,
Chas

Defintely a better layout but the wide of your street between the buildings is merely the length of a person, so 1,80 max., a bit small i think.
I see trhat you don't have a lot of space anymore if you want to keep the two buildings, so i propose to make it a road reserved for pedestrians, best symbolyzed by doing cobblestone in this road.
I think you can use your cork from the beginning, but the stones need to be smoothed on all the sides and the cork must be layed like brickwall.

Just a thought. The infantry are all crouching or crawling as if they are under fire or expect to be, while the tank commander is standing rather "heroically" high in his turret, as though he were in a safe rear area. The commander's seat was adjustable in height in a Sherman, so perhaps you might want to lower the commander in his cupola with just his head and possibly shoulders showing, so a sniper doesn't pick him off.

Hi Petros,
Nice work so far and replacing the heads was a good move. If you want to add a little more variety to your troops I would recommend the Accurate Armour British Infantry update set, contains Bergans, Bandoliers etc. Also Resicast's 2" mortars make a nice addition for British Infantry equipment.
Watch out for the picture police they will be complaining about your picture size and the time it takes to display them
Keep up the good work, the street work and building are coming along nicely.

This is coming along well. I like the figures and the locations you've selected.
One question I have is: were this type of anti-tank barriers used inland in Normandy? If so, it might be cool to give some type of indication of a third one that was moved to allow the tank through, or to somehow indicate that one was moved.

hi petros, wow...very nice. i like the floor joist and framing. i think you need more chunky debris on the bombed buildings. wouldn't hurt a bit if you place some bricks and chunk of concrete pieces. anyway it's coming smoothly and looking good. can't wait to see it painted. yes more pictures please. i like the eye level. thanks for sharing. ed
