Having a difficult time locating reference photos for interior of the M706 V-100 Commando. I am looking for copies of the TM that illustrate the turret basket and interior panels, driver's position, etc. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Don't know about finding TM's but David Doyle's new book should help you out:

There's a guy on Ebay who might still have copies of the V-100 TMs. They cost quite a bit though (or I would've bought them myself a while ago).

Here's one. It's out of stock now, but they usually stock it quite often.

He has a couple of different ones for $50 & $65 each. I've bought some other manuals from him in the past. They were in cherry condition, just as advertised.

Thanks for the responses. I have viewed the ebay hits from milman61 before and considered them as a source, although a slightly expensive one. I was happy to see the Walk-Around from Squadron, and I wasn't aware of its existance. Sounds comprehensive and SLIGHTLY more affordable! Thanks again, and Happy Thanksgiving!

I know that it is just out, but does anyone have the Squadron Walk Around yet? I know that most of the photos are probably from contemporary sources, but am always on the look out for previously unseen Vietnam -era photos.

I've seen it Sorry Johnny, no Vietnam photos (it is a Walk Around) - but stay tuned for an In Action (and watch your favorite periodicals) for wartime photos.

Best wishes,

Thanks, David --- it being a Walk Around, that makes sense!

Of course, it's still on my Christmas list, along with the Duster walk around...

Thanks for the tip on the InAction book ---- keep those great references coming, amigo!

Regards and Aloha,

Johnny B.

Well, the FedEx dude dropped the Walk Around at the house this afternoon, and it was everything I was looking for in the first post. Thanks for the help everyone!

FYI, I thought I might add that I purchased the Osprey New Vanguard Book "Cadillac Gage V-100 Commando 1960-1971. Normally retails for US$15.95, but I frequent used/bargin bookstores including those online. I've found both Amazon, but especially Barnes and Noble used books to be decent sources for hard-to-find or out-of-print materials. Sometimes you can even get a deal, such as the $6.98 that I paid for mine.

The downside is the book is a mixed bag. I find the written history to be extensive and quite detailed. The photos are decent, but not exactly aimed at a super-detailed model. There are some in-action photos that I had never seen before. The color plates are nice, particularly one showing a cut-away of a mid series V100 (XM706E1). I can't vouch for the accuracy of the info as this is the only resource I obtained so far. I'm a Braille Scale modeler and had purchased a wargaming piece intending to detail it. The metal wargame "model" was badly warped and probably one of the worst pieces I've had, so I planned to build mine from styrene stock and HO scale tractor tires. This book was the first reference I purchased towards that goal. Sounds like I can add another Walk-Around book to my list. FWIW, when I started modeling the Squadron In-Action books were the only ones my LHS carried, back in the day. I still like them and have worn a couple out.

Right, the Osprey book was a great historical piece, and some of the photos were worthwhile. The WalkAround has a lot of the detail shots I was looking for. I'll have to wait for the In Action book for (hopefully) previously un-published photos.

I have had a copy of the -10 TM (9-2320-245-10) for 20 years, and now that I need information to scratchbuild the turret basket, gun mounts, etc, of course I can't find that TM! I even considered buying another, but the cost was too steep.

So, for now, I'll use the WalkAround to plan a detailed build, and throw a first unit together (with closed hatches) for a presentation in the works. Thanks again to all for the help.
