I just picked up this kit and will post a side-by-side review against the Esci T-55A (M). I have both unbuilt and will layout the two for comparison. I'll post the review later this weekend.

I posted the review in the review section. Very nice kit and the interior and photo etch parts are a plus. Either kit would benefit from a turned metal barrel.

Rob,
I added a picture of the kit box to the review. I hope I found the right one. Nice review. With all the T-55's in the recent conflict I am sure it will be a popular kit for a while.

Jim, that's the kit. I didn't post a picture because I didn't have the box to the Esci one for comparison any more. One thing that just caught my attention from your photo is that the tank number on the box, 201, is not the decal number (333). Strange that Skif would do that. I guess all three decal options will use the same generic tank number. The driver's instrument panel is also a decal.

It's been almost 7 years, the Esci kit was long OOP and this new company called Trumpeter had one. After building the Tamiya T-55, this one seems like a waste of glue and paint. I'm surprised the review is still on the site, I thought most of my reviews were removed.

I was actually doing a T-55 search, and saw that old post. Couldn't resist, as we all know now what a POS that thing is, even without the Tamiya kit. The comment is valid however: As Soviet/Russian fans, we've come a long way since then.
I got "tricked" into buying one back then by someone who had already opened the box and probably immediately kicked himself in his fourth point of contact. Even though it WAS a horrendous kit, the paint wasn't a total loss. I practiced some good weathering techniques on it before taking it to the range.
