With the excellent aftermarket support in 1/48 armor modeling, it is now possible to build 1/48 kits into models that can compete with 1/35 models in realism. Lars' T34 is perhaps the best example I've seen so far, but there are many models that have been shown on the web that are superb examples of miniature armor replicas. Hauler is approaching 300 P/E and resin detail and conversion sets, and some complete kits, and there are kits in plastic and resin that cover wide areas of interest in modeling. It is likely that 1/48 will continue to grow and eventually prosper. There certainly should be room for another scale, and 1/48 has many advantages including good detail and smaller models to save display space.
