Well evergreen makes poles in various sizes and one might just be the right size for a scale 1/35 pole. And to add grain you can drag some fine grit sand paper along it and for the cross bems again evergreen makes some different size styrene that will also fit the need.

1/4 inch wood dowel rod is the perfect size for 1/35 telephone poles. You can use small strips of wood or styrene to make the cross bars and supports for them. They are quite easy to make.

I have used the method Gino posted and used small cuts of clear sprue for conductors.
Works well.

Good ideas for left over materials. Do you mean insulators?

Maybe in 1/48, but way too thin in 1/35. They would actually be about right in 1/72. An actual telephone pole is about 8 -10 inches thick.

Id recomend getting the old Italeri set .... use the little cross beams and fittings and than get the 1/4 inch wood dowel rod as Gino mentions. Together youŽll have very nice and quick telephone poles.

I've seen wooden pencils used too. Trimmed down and the eraser removed. For insulators I've used clear plastic beads and pins cut down to size.
