Just thinking out loud here but I would like to see a lot more detailed diorama pieces to purchase....for the money we spend it seems like you still have to provide a lot of scratch items to complete a building....I would love to see more industrial type buildings anlong with more 1/72 scale buildings.

What are your thoughts on this and what items would you like to see on the market?

I would like to see more common items such as more interiors For shops like cafes and other shops like that because no one realyl concentrates on the buildings interior.

i totally agree with that. just because the building got blown up, or not, doesnt mean everything on the inside would just vanish.....it should come with the kit, or at least be offered for aditional $.

Interesting thread.
I would offer that you might want to explore some RailRoad vendors for small scale stuff. I know I've seen a Ton of bigger industrial factory type building for RR layouts. The scales aren't exactly the same but they are really close.
On MG/RailRoad section there are some reviews (thanks Fred) that offer some crossover type items.

From a 'what do I want' to see perspective - I would like to see more creative pieces, ones with details not seen everyday. Things like blockhaus builds. His pieces are full of interesting architectural details. I just don't see them hitting the market as widely as I'd like.

What I would like to see is a bit more general and actually it is also something that has become a lot more common on the last year or two.

The complete or near-complete "diorama in a box" that includes a kit of some sort (vehicle, artillery piece, etc), figures, some detail items and perhaps even a base. Like this for example from Miniart;

http://www.miniart-models.com/36004.htm

I just picked one of these up the other day and am very keen to get started on it after X-mas. Miniart has another great subject in this kit;

http://www.miniart-models.com/35035.htm

All that is needed is a base.

The diorama bug bit me because when I was probably about 12-13 years old I was in a hobby store and saw the Tamiya 1/35 scale 88mm Flak gun with crew. Bought it on the spot and used it in the very first diorama I ever did. Today, given the challenges of time and budget (mostly time) I like the idea of being able to open a box and have everything or most everything I need to make an interesting scene.

I myself would like to see some bicycles and not have to buy Tamiya's bike rider kit. A village square water fountain. Some 50's/ post WW2 buildings to cover the Cold War armor kits. 1/35TH civilian figures and automobiles in all eras

I'd really like to see some more component parts, like sections of brickwork/blockwork, roof tiles and corrugated iron, and other bits from all eras like lamps, hydrants, you know, the sort of stuff that's available by the ton in railway modelling scales...
wheelbarrows, clocks, pipework, realistic sandbags - maybe in Dragon styrene, or softer vinyl? - better animals, more dead people (not gory) especially civilians, resin cast tree trunks and branches (whole, not little bits) and a bigger variety of leaf shapes...
(takes a breath) Er, ready mixed groundwork/filler/celluclay, in a variety of colours, more laser cut paper or vinyl leaves and foliage, and a decent water buffalo!
All the stuff I scratch build, in fact! Maybe I should take some molds from them, and start my own business... hmmm

I want to see more modern. Manufacturers are only producing WWII. Only the little companies like MIG are making stuff like that. The stuff they´re producing is really great, but I´d love to see more.

Miniart is making hundreds of WWII buildings and not even one modern.

There are many sets out there of interior household items. Verlinden, Custom Dioramics, and a few others have multiple different sets by room designed for WWII dios, but much of it is still usable for modern stuff. Mig and (I think) Blast have more modern stuff such as refrigerators, microwaves, computers, desk chairs, satellite antenna dish, etc. available in a few different sets too.

All the above being said, having seen actual building that have been through a battle, most of the interior items are either burried under the rubble, or looted and are gone from the buildings. Not much in the way of personal items are left inside.

Hi
Interesting question. Lets have a think.
I'd like to see lots of the smaller items that are harder to scratchbuild for yourself. In 1/35th scale Things like
French Telephone poles the concrete type.
English WW11 style Phone box & Post Box.
Farm implements ( some are about if you can find them in resin).
more civilian suitcases & storage boxes.
Food such as you would find in a field eg: cabbages, potatoe plants, carrot tops.
Empty 40mm Bofor's Ammo Shell Cases.
Furniture for the houses ( Not Resin) as you say almost all houses would have had furniture in unless they have been emptied.
Printed Wartime Wallpaper
A Vietnam Bamboo House.
This list could go on & on & on.

I personally love scratch building anything and everything, but if I had to say something I'd say I would like to see more interior accessories especially the hard things to scratchbuild such as a grandfather clock, also not enough stuff form the "El Alamein" campaign ans stuff form Africa, like the building;s there.

I'd like to see some modern civilian cars and trucks, and a motorcycle would be nice too. Lion Roar just released a very nice-looking WW2 German motorcycle and sidecar, with wire wheels, in 1/35 scale; I wish there was a modern motorcycle available.

Love to see some more 1:35 rail-related stuff. I agree about the shortage of modern subjects.

My main gripe are components with a very different surface texture and reflectivity than the kit -- snow, foliage, water. I'd like to see these in materials that can be presented in a very flat finish.

Factory Diorama components-

large machine tools, welding torches, factory style lighting, etc

I liked the fire hydrant idea as well---- but in 1940 they were probably specific to the country or region.

I am mocking up a factory scene right now- I could really use some manual isolation valves, relief valves, handwheels, 90 degree piping elbows, conduit- small enough to be appropriate for 3" and smaller piping diameters for fuel oil and pressurized air systems.

I wish I could buy a huge bag of pre-cut cork bricks in 1:35. I'd love to build structures like Blockhaus, Carlos Elias but I just don't have the patience to cut up all the necessary pieces!

Cheers,
Charles

Hands down, the hardest thing to come up with is a tree.

Especially Russian pines.

I have seen various attempts to make them, but the best ones are from a guy who simply said it was too time-consuming to make them anymore.
