i have been trying to match the german uniform color as best as i could. i have been trying for hours on test pieces with many different colors (all vallejo paints). i tried the colors in the link http://www.coloradominiatures.com/index.asp?PageAction=Custom&ID=5#fatigue
i tried 830 (german field gray) by itself, it seemed too green
i tried 830 + 868 50/50 (german field gray and dark sea green) also too green
i have tried 920 by itself (german uniform) that wasnt right either
i tried 964 + 920 50/50 (Field blue) + (german uniform) slightly too green
i finally think i got something close
although i dont know if anyone is willing to try it, but if you could and let me know what you think. this is what i came up with
4 parts 964 (Field Blue) + 2 Parts 830 (german fieldgrey ww2) + 1 part 951 (white)
here is the uniform i am trying to match (cover of the book)
http://search.barnesandnoble.com/booksearch/isbninquiry.asp?ean=9782352500100
thanks
i can post a picture of the color if anyone wants, but my camera stinks and probably wont come out like it does in real life

Mike,
The link you gave is for USMC Fatigue Green, in which case it would be too green
Based on the colour mixes I'm guessing you were actually referring to WWII German Field Grey #1 and WWII German Field Grey #2?
There are a few more mixes in Calvin Tan's book - I'll try remember to look them up tonight for you.
Rudi
(p.s. even though your camera stinks, please post a pic)

yeah, the links you had were ones that i tried, and i didnt think they were right.
the paint has fully dried on my figure and i think it might be too green also. here is the picture. it is slightly lighter then the color shows in the picture. my camera stinks, so it is the best i could get

Hi Mike,
Try not to use white for highlight as the effect normally does not looks good. for field grey or germanuniform...just play with 3 basic colors. German Uniform or Field Grey + Black (Negro 950) as based, add Basic Skin tone as highlight and work on with more highlight. For shadown, just add more black. That should help
My 2 cents
Good luck
Allan

try mixing some 991 Dark Sea Grey in to the mix of either 830 Field Grey or 920 German Uniform with a drop of flat base into the mix. Not all uniforms have the same shade so it's okay to varie a little.
