well,

there is one big issue with the kit when you build it OOB: it looks like a toy. The plastic is thick and there's not much detail.

Don't get me wrong, it's not a bad kit. If you have some scratchbuilding skills you can make a good model out of it. Replace certain parts with thinner plastic card and add some wires and it looks better already.

If you want to show the engine or the full interior you'll need a lot more work, because those parts look like modern abstract art (just being slightly sarcastic )

cheers,

Matthijs

Thanks!
Still considering getting one, I have the original SKIF kits so I was curious about
this one, specifically if there had been improvements.
An opportunity to do some "real" model building ;-)

Robin,

I always liked the look of the BTR so it was one of the first things I tried to build when I came back to modeling a few years ago - BIG Mistake.

Matt is right on w/ his comments. It comes w/ PE and alot of detail parts but generaly it is heavy / out o scale.

But the directions are really bad - the order of how you join the parts is makes it difficult / impossable to fit them to each other and into the rest of the kit. If you do build it study the instructions but don't try and follow the steps as Skif suggests.

I still have not finished mine after 5+ years.

Good Luck.
