Hello to all!

I have a question to "get on track." Bear in mind that I am relatively new (re-introduced, actually) to the whole model-building thing, and am enjoying it immedsely! I have "felt the challenge" when looking at the gorgeous work going on here, and that brings me to my question:

I have been gathering together all the stuff to do a highly-detailed T-62. I already have the Tamiya model and very nice Turret Assy from AEF, Eduard PE kit, etc. So now I am looking that the Master-Club and Skif tracks that are sold on flea-bay at Historica books.

What is the difference between the two sets of tracks (besides about $17 - yuk-yuk-yuk)???

Any help out there?

Happy Holidays!

Hi
You can do a highly detailed T62 from the Tamiya kit but it will still be a very innacurate one.
Why not just wait a few months till Trumpeter brings their T62 out, and then your model will be much more accurate and won't need aftermarket parts!

You can tell the new Trumpeter kit will be well ahead of the Tamiya offering just from looking at the available test shots. It should be well worth the wait, although there has been some talk about a high retail price. But if you're looking for accuracy, it seems that the Trumpy T-62 will be a much better starting point, especially for a detailed build.

I've never seen (or used) the Skif tracks, so I can't comment on them from personal experience. I've heard that they are a bit less refined, lacking the detail or finesse of some other products on the market today. MasterClub has some very nicely done tracks (I have their T-55/T-62 RMSh set), and I'm guessing the difference in price might be a reflection on the quality of the items.

If the Skif T-64 set is the one that Historica Books has listed on eBay, then it is labeled incorrectly. It clearly says "Skif 1/35 T-62 + variants" in the title. The picture of the box art is a little blurry, and the lettering is in Cyrillic, so I can't read what it says, but it looks like there are pictures of several T-64 variants on the box front.

eBay listing

The point, I guess, is that a little research could save you a lot of headache. I would certainly take Gary's word on the subject over anything I would read on an eBay listing, so if he says they're T-64 tracks, and are poor, I'd go with it.

The MasterClub tracks are well done, and relatively inexpensive. I think I paid $24 or $25 for mine, including shipping.
