Hi folks
Here are a few pics of my pzIII ausf N. The model was built out of the box. I added some sandbags made from sculpting clay. I will start the painting this evening and wil post progress pics soon.
Let me know what you think so far. I probably got a little carried away with the sandbags, kinda looks like a mobile bunker.

Hei Rob!
Looks to me like a nice clean build. I like the sandbags very much, I'm curious how they look painted.
Were the Jerry Cans with the kit, or have you bought them extra.
Looking forward to see the painted model
Regards, A. W.

Thanks guys
Sorry that the post was a bit short I didn't have much time on the PC so I had to make it short.
As far as the build goes I did have one or two problems. The instructions have you install the track guards (fenders) after all the tools are glued to the fenders, then install the upper hull segments. I found that after doing the right side that too many of the delicate parts can get damaged or broken, unless you have three hands. The jack broke off while I was trying to test fit the parts. The left side I glued the fender on without any tools, then installed the tools when the fender and upper hull sections were glued on.This is how I normally do this step, don't ask me why I went by the instructions this time.
Another problem are the rear flaps that are seperate items with the option of using PE.The problem is that the flaps glue on ot the horizontal hinge on the fender and there is not enough surface area on the flaps hinges for the glue to stick to.Mine kept coming off so i only left one on.
There are 12 fuel/water cans with this 3in1 kit. There are also PE parts for these cans included in the kit. The only thing is that they don't fit the cans supplied in this kit. These PE parts are supposed to be sandwitched between the 2 fuel can halves but they are too big.
I used Paperclay for the sandbags. I usally use modelling clay for sandbags, but thought I would try this product out. It works pretty good and only cost about $5 at the local craft store.
The main paint color desert is on and sealed. The decals are also on but there are no pics at this time. I've also started the weathering phase.
I'll try to post new pics this evening.

I've been doing some painting and weathering but still have a ways go. I didn't have much motivation on this one until the now. I'm dying to start my Pz IV ausf E from Dragon. After all the detail painting is done i'll start dusting the model.
Here is where I was about an hour ago.
I should have this done by Sunday,or sooner. We getting hit with a snow storm today so I have plenty of time to work on this model. Let me know what you think so far.

Thanks
It is painted the base color, the red is were the paint chipped away. I don't know what color they were actualy painted before receiving the vehicle base color. I have seen some models done this way. If they are orginaly PG then I will repaint it .Thanks for that tip.

Those sandbags look freaking awesome. Especially once they have the dark shadows in place. The rest looks great too. Nice work Rob.

Hi all
Glad you guys like the model and the sand bags. My wife says the bags look like chewing gum,do you. She did however give me a tip on how I could texture them better, her nylon stockings. I will give it a try next time I do up some chewing gum, I mean sand bags.
Well here are some pics of the completed model, it's not quite how I expected it to turn out. I haven't built a DAK vehicle in a few years so I need to practice a bit. I did repaint the fire extinguisher a dark panzergrey as suggested and it does look better than the red.
Now I can finally start my Pz IV ausf E as a wrecked DAK tank.

Thanks guys, i'm glad to hear you like how it turned out.
John, sounds great but I live in S.E. Ma.on the border of RI and it would be atleast a 4 hour drive to where you are. I will be moving to Maine in a few years when my teenage son is out on his own.
Thanks Dave,I may just do that next month.
