Ask anyone who works in 1/72nd scale and one of their (justifiable) frustrations is the lack of suitable, injection-moulded figures in this scale. Here''s some GOOD news...January 2009 will see the release of: DRA 7364 - LAH Panzergrenadiers + Sd.Kfz.251/7 Ausf.D, Ardennes 1944. The photo-report can be seen:

I’m certainly looking forward for this one, since I’ve caught the Braille bug recently...

Would anyone be able to point me towards any photo reference of this Hanomag variant during Ardennes offensive as presented in the kit? So far I’ve managed to locate only one – page 69 in Concord’s #7045 The Battle of the Bulge shows Wehrmacht’s 251/7 (without the assault bridge ramps) captured by US 1st Infantry Division near Schoppen, Belgium in January 1945.

Thanks in advance

I don't know if you're getting the same feelings as I am with these (VERY) limited releases of 1/72nd scale figures? I get the impression, that DML is being a little 'timid' and really should get the bull by the horns and do 3-4 FIGURE sets in the scale - without the 'free' vehicle kit? It does seem a little weird, writing a News story on the basis of a LAH Panzergrenadiers + Sd.Kfz.251/7 Ausf.D, as if the vehicle was an 'afterthought'...

Jim I have also seen in Fine scale modeller that Dragon are doing a Panther G early with Zimmerit and the Actun Jabo figures in 1. 72 too, great news. Are the LAH troops available in 1.35 ? Cheers Geraint

Just might have to get one, just for the figures so I can do a small viginette. Now Dragon needs to start doing this with their modern range as well.

It is a welcome release, those figs will be very useful. And I can always find a use for another 251D but can also imagine theres more than a few modellers out there who would just want the figs.

I agree Jim that if Dragon translated the 35th fig sets on their own down into Braille they'd be onto a winner. This way tho they can never be sure whether the sales are fig or AFV driven ......

cheers
Brent

I couldn't agree more on Dragon scaling down their 1/35 figures to 1/72 scale and selling them seperately. Only problem is that some of the figure sets only have 2 figures in them for example the British SBS set only has two figures but, includes the Kayak. Also the 82nd Airborn set only has two figures as well but, it comes with a motor cycle. I could really use the SBS boat set and the 82nd Airborn set in addition to the Spetznatz set. Dragon could combine some of the sets similar to what Tamiya does with their figures.

I would like very much to see what the finished 1/72 figures look like. Has anyone posted pictures of completed 1/72 figures online as yet? Since i started making 1/35 gen 2 figures i use the many spare kit items to upgrade other figures made by dragon or even other manufacturers that I have bought. One suggestion I would like to make to dragon is to make a set of only heads and hands in 1/35 scale . In many of the older figure sets , these are not so good (especially the hands). Imagine a set of 30 german heads that include winter headgear, Afrika Korp and standard european theater heads, bare headed etc.
