i built a figure from the dragon us iwo jima set, and i also just built the georgian legioneers figure from dragon and the georgian figure looks tiny compared to the us figure. his head looks half the size. they dont look right. is this common for dragon figures to be this different in sizes

i should change the title to why so big. i got a bunch of resin figures from nemrod and warriors and they have the same size head as the german soldier. it is the US figure that is too big. his head looks like a monster head compared to the others. oh well i liked the US soldier, but he wont line up well with his giant head

Mike,
Firstly my apologies for the delayed response - what can I say? It's the silly season
Okay, so onto your question: why is the DML U.S. Marines (Iwo Jima 1945) set so big compared to the others?
The short and simple answer is that many of the early DML figures were oversized. I'm guessing they probably measure closer to 54mm (approximately 1/32 scale)?
Now just in case your about to respond with "but I have the 'new' Premium set", the Premium sets are rehashes of the old figure sets - they might sharper some detail, throw in a few extras like Gen2 weapon sprues, but essentially it's still the same figures. DML's Premium 6408 - U.S. Marines Iwo Jima 1945 figure set is simply a rebox of the old 6038 - U.S. Marines (Iwo Jima 1945) set with a few extras of course
Now with regards to the unasked question of what size should a 1/35 scale figure be? The average height of males during the 1940s appears to be between 5’8” (174.5cm) and 5’10” (178.1cm). Therefore a 1/35 scale figure should measure between 49.9mm and 50.9mm, barefoot and heel to top of head.
My personal experience (and I accept that your mileage may vary) with (newer) DML figures is that they're generally about 52mm in height, which once you eliminate head and foot gear is about right.

To make it even easier, in 1/35th scale, a 5'10" man is exactly two inches tall. The head should be about one eighth of the total height.

it should be correct, because i watched the history channel on the battle of iwo jima, it compared the heights of a japanese and american soldier, the japanese was a little over 4 3/4 ft. while the american was way taller, so it should be correct hope this helps calvin ng
